Guest guest
my first fill was also a bit of a problem. the surgeons worked on it. it took them 5 tries to find the port. i felt like a pincushion. the next fill i had the nurse practitioner and that fill and subsequent fills (that she did ) have gone beautifully. i dont think that the surgeons are used to working on a patient without anasthesia...:-) but i am glad i continued and i hope that you pesevere too. Guest guest
Hey Sue- I have emailed you cause i am slightly confused too. I got my fill like 4 days ago and feel no restriciton yet but I know patience is real hard for me. Anyway The doc said to me I cannot give you a fill for 4-6 weeks, what is the deal if you can get it sooner? it is so contradicting to me. Also the doc said I had a new AP band and mine is 4cc..Someone told me the new AP bands only come in 10cc..I am lost.I thought i chose a good doc and staff bt so confused. Even confused about what to eat. I knew this was going to be work but didnt know I wouldnt even be able to get guidelines..Yikes..Let me know if you find out any info. thanks mepoohspal2 <stevensuesfamily@...> wrote: Sandy, what your saying makes sense to me. Everyone was basically saying go for it, if you don't feel anything then its not too soon. I am confused. I have valued you opinion since I found you on OH. I have no restriction at all. I can eat almost my 'regular' mealif I'm not careful. and now bad habits like taking big bites and not chewing well and even drinking with my foood are all creeping back in. My Doc says do the fill. I have kept the spot marked where they found it in the hospital. I honestly cannot afford to to it with the xray each time. is that the same as flouro? I had to pay 120 dollars for it. Thank you for your opinion. it really does matter to me. thank you to all. > > > > Hello. I was banded on 8/8/07. I lost 14 pounds in the Pre-Op but > > nothing since. Guest guest
i originally got confused with the band measurements. i thought my band was 10 cc but it was 10 centimeters in length, wiht a capacity for 4ccs.. i dont know what the new ap bands are, but perhaps that is waht is being confusing? also, right now i know i need a fill, but am not getting one until i move to avoid any problems during stress time. so i am practicing mindful eating....one bite at a time, fork down, chew to kill. somehow just doing this helps me eat less. i have also found that some items that i used to love, i really dont like when i eat like this. when i was in nyc a few weeks ago, i decided to try one of my all time favorites...nyc street pretzels......well, i used to inhale them. but this time i took a tiny bite and chewed to kill. it was like library paste. i hated it. couldnt finish it brought it home for mom. even tho i am relatively new (banded feb 6 07) i feel that the band is a partnership...between it and me. sometimes it can do most of the work, sometimes i have to do most of the work..and eventually it will even itself out. For the person who commented on wasted time, to add to what Sandy said, Just because you CAN eat a log doesn't mean you SHOULD. Even if you're able to eat a lot, the idea is to NOT EVER TEST THE BAND by seeing how much you can eat. I've been there and done that a few times over the last 4 years. -- Best regards, Dan mailto:honu@...

We actually do NOT want to use exactly the same spot each time, Of course Sandy is right. Several of us getting our first fill at the same time talked to Dr. Ortiz about him marking the spot and then getting a tattoo of a " bulls eye target " over the spot. (a couple of us already had some ink on our bodies). He told us just what Sandy said. Now four years later the " spot " is about 3 inches from where it was originally, and only half of that, at most, is due to tummy tuck. -- Best regards, Dan mailto:honu@...
