I haven't been able to see my doc as he is on holiday. I feel really tired, foggy and my stomach is upset. I found today that I couldn't remember words and had to rack my brain to get them. Can this be because I have stopped Levo? For only 5 days? Maybe the doc is right that I am not hypo...I have diarrohea tonight and palpitations...maybe I am hyper because I don't need thyroxine. I just don't know what is wrong. I have had a terrible day...I had a car accident a couple of weeks ago and my car was written off. My insurers asked for my documents so they can settle and I hunted high and low for my MOT...then it eventually dawned on me that I didn't take it for its MOT in NOVEMBER...at that time I was totally laid up in bed, really depressed and could hardly walk. I didn't drive for months. So now I will probably be charged with a motoring offence and have a fine up to £1000 because I have been driving with no MOT, won't get anything for my car and will need to pay back the other person's costs. The insurers won't stop writing till I send it or tell them. I just don't have any money because I can't work. It just doesn't let up...I really feel I can't go on. I feel so awful. I wanted to let you know that I can feel the effects the very day I stop just 25 mcg thyroxine even if I still take my usual dose of Armour. Recently I accidentally ran out of the thyroxine on a weekend and from the very first day my blood sugar was aweful, it kept on dropping. Also my energy was rubbish. I didn't associate it with the lack of thyroxine until it happened the next day too. On the Monday I took 50 mcg I had in the cupboard until I got my usual script from my GP. Monday was great, good energy and blood sugar. I cannot stay on the higher dose cos I go very toxic, my body cannot use more than 25 mcg thyroxine but is fine with 2 grains Armour in addition. It would seem that for some of us sensitive individuals who are very in touch with how our body feels we can notice any adjustment in medication involving the thyroid/adrenals almost immediately. As you feel so bad are you taking adrenal support too? BW Pam Pam
Guest guest
I doubt you would be charged with a motoring offence if you explain your health problems and your condition at that time, it is not like you purposely chose to disregard getting the MOT.And my guess is that your frame of mind right now is very much affected by your lack of thyroid hormone. It is a challenging situation but it may feel a tad less overwhelming when you get your hormones straight which WILL happen. Then that position of greater strength you can tackle this situation one chunk at a time. You can do this!M o ----Original Message---- From: lmforeman@... Date: 30/07/2008 22:04 <thyroid treatment > Subj: Re: Help! Guest guest
Oh - no wonder you feel so terrible. First, you must go and see one of the other doctors in your surgery and ask for an explanation as to why you were told to stop your levothyroxine and with your doctor then going on holiday, this is too awful. Explain exactly what has happened with your car and the reason why you failed to get an MOT last November and ask them for any support they can give you. I am not sure whether they will write a letter of support or not, but you must ask for help. If the symptoms of hypothyroidiosm are explained, such as short term memory, brain fog, total fatigue etc, somebody might listen and be able to advise Unfortunately, without an up to date MOT you will be unable to claim any insurance as you are aware. Let us know what happens, but PLEASE make an appointment to see the Head of Practice if possible and speak with him/her. Guest guest
Hi Just a note of caution. Be careful about letting your insurance company know about your symptoms as they might have to inform the DVLA which could open a can of worms, also did you previously informed them that you are hypo as it might make your insurance invalid if you did not. I was diagnosed just recently I let them know I was hypo but did not talk about symptoms. It did not make any difference to the premium I had to pay but it can make a difference when you make a claim as they might use the fact you did not inform them as a get out clause. cec > > Oh - no wonder you feel so terrible. Guest guest
Hi all, I know this is off topic but thought you might be interested to hear that I have been offered a fair settlement by my insurers...minus 10% for no MOT...there is no mention of paying money back or any criminal charges. What a relief....but a cautionary tale...please take a moment to check that you have renewed any insurance policies, mot's etc. We forget so much in our hazy brain state...it has cost me a few hundred pounds and the stress has no doubt set me back...though I still think I got off lightly. I am now going to put everything in Outlook and set reminders! (or get my kids to do it for me...lol) > I had a car accident a couple of weeks > ago and my car was written off. Guest guest
Hi , What a relief. I think loads of people only realise that their MOT is overdue when they come to get their road tax renewed, so you are not on your own. We have certainly done that too. Guest guest
Hi I am delighted that everything has turned out so well. I really was so worried as to what was going to happen to you and couldn't see a way out - but there is a little man up there looking after you after all. Now, you must need to concentrate on getting your health back again. Well done!
