Guest guest
Yes, I have just completed my DLA form, well in January. I actually applied for it in September but thought all my symptoms were in my head as didn't have any validation that they are hypo t. Thought I was a lazy good for nothing. I could cry now. Haven't heard back but was told it would take 8 weeks, so maybe early March. Not sure if I put the right stuff down. > > Hello there! Guest guest
Hi Gail I've been on DLA for some years now and now have it for life as I have Lupus. In the past when trying to renew my claim I found the best way to get it was to go to an advice centre. Make an appointment with someone who knows exactly how to fill in the form (or should I say book!). There are specific ways for answering the questions and there are people around who are experts at this. Do you have an advice centre close to you? Hope this helps. I have just been turned down for DLA for my symptoms of hypo T, adrenal exhaustion so obviously didn't fill it in correctly. Thanks. Guest guest
Oh, poor old you Adele - and your family too. How we take electricity and many other things for granted. Hope you get warmed up soon and everything is back to normal. Thanks for letting us know anyway, in case anybody was wondering where you were. Thanks for responding to Keri - I don't know what we would do without you. I just wish I could give everybody a wage for all the help they give. Luv - Sheila .. Guest guest
> > Back here now...and I've answered Kerri emails..... Adele has been very helpful. I need to appeal re DLA. I could do with some immediate help though. Am seeing psychiatric nurse at surgery tomorrow - the 4th doctor I've had there in a year wants me to see her re 'depression' and 'overeating' - I know in the last couple of months I have binged more but nowhere as much as before I found Overeaters Anonymous in 2005. They (surgery) obviously feel I am as mad as a hatter which I do feel a lot of the time but I this seems to be from the low thyroid/adrenal fatigue - neither of which recognised by the NHS. They do recognise the high thyroid antibodies (above 1000 with the range 0-30) but say I will become hypothyroid and my symptoms are depression - result from the endo in February. How can I maximise this visit? My default is to try to appear normal when I am out, particularly in front of professionals. This could be a chance for me. I would like your help please. Last year, one of the GP's sent me to psychiatrist in July as I was suicidal (still feel like this periodically but now I have more knowledge and the nutritionist/TPA see it is something else). The psychiatrist just said she wasn't surprised with all my life events, addiction +++. Feeling low just writing this - I am becoming a shadow of the person I was and all this time doesn't help ones confidence/self esteem. luv keri
