Guest guest
Hi, just a li comment from me is all. My dh is a house framer. He is cut all the time. He uses alcohol to clean his cuts. He even keeps a bottle in the truck just in case. It's all he'll use and nothing ever gets infected. I am going to tell him about the iodine though. I remember when I was a kid my parents would put mercurochrome (sp??) on my cuts. It stung like a bugger!! ------ s_Mom callmeshell.blogspot.com > I do use 91% alcohol to cleanse cuts and then put > iodine on them to get rid of infections once I get > them. Guest guest
Mercurochrome is Mercury. I sure would never use it. Iodine stings when the cut or scrape is fressh but it helps a tough resiliant scab form. Putting it on the scab helps healing and does not sting at all. Guest guest
Lol, I know about mercurochrome. I guess the FDA banned it in 1998. Isn't that something. Using Mercury to help heal your cuts? What were my parents thinking. : s Thanks for your info : ) ------ s_Mom callmeshell.blogspot.com Re: Re: Alcohol for cleaning wounds-My Observations on Antibiotics Mercurochrome is Mercury. Guest guest
I had the same aha moment when I found out that my mother gave me paregoric (anhydrous morphine) as an infant. She was rather offended at my shock over the thought of giving morphine to an infant and pointed out that it was standard practice. It was at that point I realized that I'd probably be having the same conversation with at least one of my children at some point in the future over some practice that we don't blink about today. Needless to say, I'm not looking forward to feeling foolish.... wrote: Lol, I know about mercurochrome. I guess the FDA banned it in 1998. Isn't that something. Using Mercury to help heal your cuts? Guest guest
My mom used this on us also. I've already had this moment as a parent with fluoride drops. Me too, and since they caused constipation and colic in my son they weren't much fun. Doctors really believe they're not rat poison, just like they believed they should put mercury on the gums of teething infants. Guest guest
At one time many people believed that people with mental problems should be tortured to death to drive out the demons. Experts tend to believe really strange and dangerous things sometimes. Alobar On 9/20/06, Skipper Beers <lsb149@...> wrote: > >From: Linn <linnmiller@...> > > >My mom used this on us also. Guest guest
This just made me nauseous when I found out how bad it was besides the fact that I couldn't believe I was that trusting of my kid's doctor. I still worry what it did to their bones. Linn On Sep 20, 2006, at 2:24 PM, Skipper Beers wrote: >> From: Linn <linnmiller@...> > >> My mom used this on us also. Guest guest
My mom was very fond of this use of alcohol, although I think her preference was whiskey. If I remember correctly brandy was her spirit of choice!! Probably didn't want to waste that on us.Linn On Sep 20, 2006, at 3:05 PM, Ken & Jackie Reimer wrote:> Mercury on the gums of teething babies? My mom lived by the > on the gums. I think they used it until the 1940s when they realized that it seemed fine for most children, but some died or became crippled with " Pink Disease. Guest guest
How's that? Being Vegan not healthy for us? For us, and I'm not wanting a debate here, it was not the healthiest route, and although we don't eat red meat, we do dabble in poultry, cheese, eggs, and milk. We were missing major protein enzymes. My cells were so weak I ended up with meningitis/ encephalitis. Over did the soy so much i think it may have been a contributing factor to my hypo. This is just my instincts working for my body and my family, I completely respect anyone who chooses a different path. While semi on that subject, does anyone have opinions about that book that talks about certain foods being better for certain blood types?JackieOn Sep 20, 2006, at 3:33 PM, wrote:>> They were thinking the same thing my parents were, LOL!!!!! Guest guest
Doesn’t work for me. I am type A as well and when I read my section it was a lot of carbs and I can really put on the pounds. I also get very tired when I eat carbs. Guest guest
I looked at the Blood Type Diet once because a friend was raving about it. She claimed it did wonders. But this lady ate crap foods all the time, so *any* moderate diet would be good for her. The diet sure is not for me. High carbs are what ruined my health over the years. In looking thru the book, I saw good nutritional advice mixed with nonsense. I could see no scientific basis for the claims in the book. It sure looked to me like the book was designed to make the author money rather than to further understanding of diet.
