Guest guest
It means you are very deficient in iodine. Most of us here are taking Iodoral, 50 mgs. per day per Dr. Brownstein's protocol in order to correct our iodine deficiency. If the patch disappears within 8 hours, it is said we are very deficient. Guest guest
They are referring to the patch test which is just applying orange iodine from Walgreens or some place like that to your belly and seeing how long it lasts. There is debate on its accuracy but it seems to follow deficiency. You can order a test from VRP - www.VRP.com . It is called the Iodine Loading test and runs around $100. You take a 50 mg pill of Iodoral and then collect your urine for 24 hours. They see how much iodine comes out in your urine. The more coming out the less deficient you are. B. Re: Iodine test ??? Guest guest
You don't have to, but if you want to you can take the Iodine loading test. You can order one from Vitamin Research products. They charge $100. Just google them and call them and tell them you want the loading test. They have a doc who then gives you the results. First they send you out a questionnaire, and then after you send it back, they send you the test kit. Iodine test ??? Guest guest
Or three times or perhaps four times as some of us are having situations that the test shows we are not absorbing the iodine. --- Jane Rowland <classicalwriter@...> wrote: > About that loading test.... > > It seems to me that it would only make sense to take the test twice; once before taking any > Iodoral and once after the 50mgs. > > This way, you know what your status was going in and whether your problem is one of > malabsorption, which would need to be addressed before supplementation would be useful. > > Agreements or disagreements? > > Jane __________________________________________________

Guest guest
I felt fine when I stopped the iodine. I felt relieved to be off that high of a dose. Any time I do not feel well and begin to lose hair are directly related to heavy exercise or trying to switch to Armour. --- Abbe <abbe_online@...> wrote: > > > --- <kennio@...> wrote: > > > Or three times or perhaps four times as some of us > > are having situations that the test shows we > > are not absorbing the iodine. > > > > > , > > Have you discussed with any of the professionals > assisting you, your experience of not feeling well > when stopping iodine? > > > Abbe > > __________________________________________________ >

Taking the loading test before Iodoral, would only tell how much iodine was excreted. They might be able to approximate how much is on your diet based on that. But, you need to take the 50 mg og Iodoral in order to take the test. That way they know you had 50 mg of Iodoral in your system, and if you excrete 45 mg the first time, then you are at 90% saturation and don't need to take any at all. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for the response. I am in one of the iodine depleted areas of the USA. I started on 1 kelp tablet today. The bottle says 1 = 100% of daily requirments. Why would this not be enough? > > Sounds like you are deficient. I am even >more cautious mega-dosing 100 mg which is 66,000 times the RDA! Let me see. 1 mg = 1,000 mcg 100 mg equals 100,000 mcg. 100,000 divided by 125 = 800 (which means 800 times the RDA, right?) Of course, if my calculations are correct, it's not that out of line to be scared of 800 times the RDA. OTOH, it's alleged the Japanese get about 12.5 mg per day. which would mean the 100 mg would only be 8 times a normal Japanese diet. > >Interesting thing with my blood work that I got today, my antibodies have >fallen from 96 to 46 >since my last test. Did you only start the levoxyl, as that can also lower antibodies. Also, you mentioned that switching to Armour caused your hair to fall out. You do know that is usually only a temporary problem, and it grows back? Go on Levoxyl for the first time can also cause that. It seems to be any change in thyroid medication. Guest guest
The bottle of Iodoral says one pill is 8,333% of the daily value of Iodine/iodide. I take 8 of them. I should have said that I take 66,664% of the daily value according to the Iodoral bottle. I have taken Levoxyl for just over a year now...my antibodies have slowly risen during that time from a low of 29 or thereabouts. Only now have they fallen. My hair better grow back. It has never been this thin. My dihydrotestosterone is in the low 200's well about the high range of 100; better get some saw palmetto too. --- Skipper Beers <lsb149@...> wrote: > >From: <kennio@...> > > >I am overly cautious and would not ever mega-dose anything without some > >kind of test before and > >during. Guest guest
If you are depleted, apparently even 12.5 mg a day would take a couple of years to bring you to sufficiency according to this Iodine loading test. We are trying to do it quickly, in a matter of months. Several doctors disagree that 150mcg are sufficient for full body functioning let alone ever reaching sufficiency. --- Gale <nsndallas@...> wrote: > Thanks everyone for the response. I responded at the time saying I was experiencing the same thing. Abbe --- <kennio@...> wrote: > I felt fine when I stopped the iodine. I felt > relieved to be off that high of a dose.
