Guest guest
In a month I'm having my third and final loose skin removal surgery, thigh lifts (both inner thighs), and wonder if anyone can add to this list of stuff that might be useful for the recovery: - I'll rent a lift chair (motorized recliner that pushes you to an almost standing position) for one month post-op. I found it very handy after my beltline lipectomy (lower body lift), and spent much of the day in it and slept there. - A wireless doorbell to summon help from the next room in the middle of the night, if needed. - A (male) urinal if walking to the john every time is too big an effort. - To counter the constipation that my Percocet (acetaminophen or Tylenol + oxycodone) painkiller will cause, I'll have stool softener (docusate sodium) and Senokot (natural source laxative containing sennosides). (Has anyone tried the laxative TEAS-- do these work better than the Senokot pills?) As soon as I can, I will start to alternate the Percocet with Extra Strength Tylenol. - A case of Ensure liquid protein supplement cans, in case my band self-tightens after surgery and I need to go on liquids. - A donut cushion (inflatable ring usually used by those with haemorrhoids) to sit on. I just thought it may let me relax in my recliner without putting direct pressure on the two incisions, which will run in the natural skin crease between upper inner thigh and pelvis. - In case of bleeding (last time I bled a LOT and had multiple open wounds that persisted 3 months), a selection of dressings, including 8- by 10-inch abdominal pads, Tegaderm transparent dressings, 22- by 35-inch blue disposable absorbent pads (to catch saline spills when doing dressing changes), etc. Also Polysporin, Bactroban ointment and silver nitrate sticks. - DVD's and books for amusement, plus an exact miniature replica of my plastic surgeon and a scalpel -- so I can perform revenge thigh lifts on him if I'm miserable! Any ideas, especially from bandsters who've had thigh lifts or other plastic surgery, would be gratefully accepted. Thanks in advance. T.
