thanks!

Get his Free T3 & Free T4 tested as those are a better indication of thyroid function. When starting iodine supplementation TSH can rise for up to 6 mos after you start. The iodine docs have seen it go up to 30 with no signs of hypothyroid. They use the frees to check them out. TSH increases to stimulate NIS to take in more iodine. He probably is not hypo. Christa,

No question is ignorant. You want your T3 at the top of the range.

Mid to top 80% of the range

or where ever your symptoms are not felt. some women have to go above

the top end because of thyroid resitance

Hi Christa,

Ranges vary from lab to lab, so that's why we ask you to give us the lab's range along with your result. :)

My last free T3, taken on day 3 of my menstrual cycle (in case that makes a difference?) was 2.65. I really have no idea what is optimum range to be in! What is the optimal number? I am not at all knowlegable about the thyroid hormones. I am currently on 1 grain of Armour and my dr doesnt want to raise it - he prefers to stabilize my other hormone supplements first, and make sure my adrenals are stabilized. I'm pretty comfortable with this protocol for now, but any opinions are most welcome on this topic!

The optimal range is near the top of the range, bur you need the range for us to know. If you had this done with doctor, they should be able to send you a paper copy of the results and the range will be on there.
