Guest guest
I've had no adverse effects after a week of adding 1/4 grain (now 3/4 grain in total). No improvement either. So I'm going to add another 1/4. See if I can get away with a whole grain :-) Rosie
Guest guest
....and then, after that, stay on 1 grain for 3 to 4 weeks at least to give it time to work. You can then increase by another half grain. Luv - Sheila I've had no adverse effects after a week of adding 1/4 grain (now 3/4 grain in total). No improvement either. Dunno what to do now. I guess I go back to 3/4 grain, since I was ok on that, but it wasn't enough to help me feel any better. I wonder if I just need to go slower. Do you take any NAE? SOrry Sheila. Can't remember exactly when I started Armour but it was in January after seeing Dr P. I am on 35mg/day hydrocortisone & 9 NAE. The only supps I'm taking at the mo are Vit C, CoQ10 & iron. I started on half grain but couldn't take it so cut back to 1/8 grain. After a week I went up to 1/4 grain, split. After another week I went up to 3/8 grain, split. After another week, went up to 1/2 grain, split. I then got cocky & added another 1/4 grain, going up to 3/4 grain. That was fine. I was on that for a week before adding another 1/4 & going up to a full grain, which is not agreeing with me. I've taken 1/2 grain this morning since I know I can get away with that. I guess I go back down to 3/4 grain? Maybe I should have stayed on it for longer? Maybe I should be going up in 1/8 grain increments? Guest guest
Rosie, try persevering for a couple days. I used to get a headache when increasing my Armour but it never lasted longer than2/3 days then went away comepletely. However, I would say that anyone who has a headache lasting longer then that with associated nausea etc should see their GP. June x > > Looks like I can't get away with a whole grain. Guest guest
HI Rosie You MUST take longer between increases - this is what is going wrong. Your body needs to adjust to each dose increase, however small and you should leave it for at least 3 weeks before you increase again. It's OK after the first 7 days to increase, but you must thereafter wait before increasing again as stated in our "How to Use Armour" information in our files. Your poor body has no idea what is happening so please be patient. If I was you, I would stay on exactly the amount you are on at the moment, and give your body time to adjust. Just had an email from Dr P - he says I'm not converting so there's no point going up with the ARmour; he says I should stay where I am & start adding in T3 instead. So just when I finally had my poor addled brain round the Armour thing, looks like I'm staying on 3/4 grain for the time being. He said I should add in 1/2 tablet of T3 at breakfast for a week then add another 1/2 tab at lunch. But he didn't tell me what size tab to take a half of! I assume he means 5mg - which I have a tub of already - but T3 is something I'm not going to mess with without being absolutely sure I've got my instructions right. I've asked him for clarification & in the meantime I'll stay on 3/4 grain. WHy do I find everything so hard to understand? It's SO frustrating. Guest guest
You find it hard to understand because you are not getting T3 through the brain barrier to help your brain function. You will get there. I would be tempted to stay on your three quarters of a grain to see if you settle down before starting T3 only, as I personally don't think you are taking enough Armour yet for your body to function effiently. 3/4 of a grain is minimal. Most people, need 2/3 or even 4 grains to make them function. Build this up gradually as we have recommended and see if it helps. If, after you have got to a reasonable dose, you are still not well - then you may need to use T3 only, but don't be in too much of a rush. Guest guest
Hey Rosie - don't beat yourself up for forgetting - part of being hypothyroid is the terrible brain fog and short term memory. Mark it on the calendar when you are due an increase, but DO remember to go and look at the calendar LOL! Luv - Sheila I'm just blundering through, not really taking things in. You are a saint for your patience. You have told me and told me how to take Armour and I still keep getting it wrong. *slaps self on forehead*I will stay on 3/4 grain for at least another 3 weeks. Thank you for your tolerance!Rosie No virus found in this incoming message.Checked by AVG Free Edition.
