I think the idea of an ad is brilliant. Changing the title to IS THE

NHS KILLING US? is not as punchy but would be safer legally. I've

listened to the Vine show for years and have a lot of respect

for the man. I would hope that his quip (and that's all it was)

about thyroxine relates to the obsession of being size zero and some

women who have no symptoms but use thyroxine to up the metabolism and

burn what little fat is left around their bodies. It does go on and

does need to be highlighted but he obviously hasn't all the facts nor

does he know that there is a legitimate need for many to do so.

His medical expert is JUST an GP (we all know what that means) and so

will do her research the way all other GP's and MP's do their

research and consult the professional body for information - and we

all know what that is! She has in the past offered " alternative "

solutions but will always give the conventional rhetoric just as MP's

tow the party line.

Each day 's show picks out something that is topical in the

newspapers. He has very young family and was very understanding of

womans problems fertility etc at that time. Perhaps a 'heads up'

before an ad was run to say that you would be willing (and able) to

come on air and answer any listeners questions (and even doctors and

endocrinologists questions), may be a bit like throwing the guantlet

down, what do you think?

People could make posters for their cars and newsagents " BLOOD TESTS

FOR THYROID FUNCTION NORMAL? NOT FEELING " NORMAL " VISIT THYROID

PATIENTS ADVOCACY WEB SITE ..... BUY THE xxxxxx ON xxxx FOR THE

TRUTH ABOUT THYROID TESTING "

I'd be delighted to pledge some money, as many others would, and this

could give you an indication as to how feasible it would be for us

all to fund it.

Will keep an eye on developments.

I think a long term publicity strategy would be in order and that

Forrest (the makers of armour) need to come on board. I know that

making donations to TPA-Uk is not appropriate, but they can fund their

own ongoing adverts to doctors.

If Forrest placed ads in the GP magazines about how to treat with

Armour and its approved status, - overcoming all the nonsense GPs have

been told by Big Pharm ie: You get mad cows disease from armour !!!!

This would attack the problem from the top and a combined support

groups patient stuff can come from the bottom up.

I did a local support group meeting ad with the heading " What Your

Doctor wont tell you about Thyroid' which was quite affective.

Shiela, could all the combined groups approach Forrest to get a GP

Information strategy going whilst the support groups also do a

combined strutured strategy as well.

Hi Irene - WOW - if we could get things that far, it would be wonderful. It is not impossible and I will do what I can to make this project work. I need first to write things down to send off to the right people, and that is no mean task., I think the whole business of getting publicity for thyroid sufferers has to be tackled differently from the usual stories that journalist write - and I need a very brave journalist and brave editor to write what I would like them to write - but it is not impossible. I will not be around very much I don't think for the next couple of weeks, but I will start getting some stuff together. Sadly, I think any advert in any paper, magazine would be too costly - but you never know, we might have an editor who is hypothyroid and being badly treated.....

Another suggestion is to write to the letter page of magazines and newspapers. Local people can write to their local free papers letter page.

I am not sure what should be said - perhaps everyone's heads put together would be able to produce something suitable.

Now there's an idea Lilian. I did this when I wanted people to complete the Hypothyroid Patients Petition. I wrote to the Editor of every national and every local paper. Not sure how many published my letter, but considering we had over 1500 participants to the survey, there must have been quite a few. OK - girls and boys - any ideas of what to say. to GRAB their attention.

I think by virtue of the fact that he found Dr Peatfield, might

suggest he had trouble getting diagnosed. Thing is though with

celebrities, they probably don't have to go through the trauma of

going to see their GP.

He might be worth a shot. Mind you I don't know how you could get in

touch with him. Perhaps via the on Sunday.

coin.........I wonder how much it would cost to buy a full page

advertisement in a dail paper such as the Daily Mail - with something

like........
