Thanks a lot > Reeta x Hello Reeta,I buy mine from International Pharmacy.I get the 10mg tabs and just chop them up as necessary. The're not huge but not too small either - I can even cut them in quarters if I have to. Hope this helps, Louise.
Guest guest
Thank you Louise. Has taking the hydrocortisone helped or made the difference for you? Reeta
Guest guest
HI Reeta As far as I am aware, this would be OK to cut your 10 mgs tabs. in half. You can buy good pill cutters at your local pharmacy. Somebody who is taking cortef will no doubt be able to help you more. Luv - Sheila Hi everyone, I have not been on here for ages. I think I am going to go the hydrocortisone route which Dr P advised when I saw him in November. I still do not feel sure but do not know what other steps to take. He wrote on my appointment sheet that I should get Cortef (5mg) from International Pharmacy - I have just looked at their site and they sell this in 50s. However, they sell 10 mg tabs in 100's which would be more economical to get. Does anyone know if it would be okay to get 10mg tabs and cut them in half? Guest guest
Hi Reeta When I was on a smaller dose I got 10mg tablets and split them, I have used a pill cutter knife and I find the best way is just to split them with my finger nail along the line. I am currently on 20mg use one tablet split 4 ways and take 4 times a day. Hope this helps Carolineallyreet <allyreet@...> wrote: He wrote on my appointment sheet that I should get Cortef (5mg) from International Pharmacy - I have just looked at their site and they sell this in 50s. Has taking the hydrocortisone helped or made the > difference for you? > Reeta Hello Reeta, Yes the HC has made a difference, I'm still not right but things have improved since I started taking it memory for one thing and the pain in my hands and feet, and my skin (I've had acne and skin problems all my adult life and they became much worse on thyroxine alone) now I'm on Armour and the HC a lot of it has cleared up. I have more energy at certain times of the day than others but I have an appointment coming up so I shall see what that turns up(I'll let everyone know how I get on afterwards).I started taking the HC last September by the way. Guest guest
Hi Reeta, Just a quick one, hope I'm not repeating what anyone else has said but I remember that cost was an issue for you so wanted to remind you that you can buy generic HC for quite a bit less from IP. I think they are made by West and come in 20mg tablets. I split these up no problem, even in to eighths. Good luck and I'm so pleased that you are back! Guest guest
Hi reeta, I'm a great one for cutting pills to save costs. Unless these have an enteric coating- pred can make some folk feel sick- you should be fine. However, they sell 10 mg tabs in 100's which would be more economical to get. Does anyone know if it would be okay to get 10mg tabs and cut them in half? Thanks a lot Reeta x
Guest guest
you can buy generic HC for quite a bit less from IP. Hi Bella and Reeta, what is the difference between generic and Cortef? Dr P on the phone has advised Cortef 5 mg split a day. luv keri
Guest guest
Hi Keri Dr P believes the amount of HC is higher in Cortef than it is in the generic. It seems others say otherwise, but it may be right that if you buy cheaply, you only get what you pay for. Some people ahve not done well on the generic and when they changed over to Cortef, they were fine. luv - Sheila Re: Buying hydrocortisone you can buy generic HC for quite a bit less from IP.
