Guest guest
My local pharmacy had some Sheila, I put (I think it was) Ruth onto them and she managed to get them for her husband - the info should be in the group under T3 or Tertoxin supplies, don't have time right now to look it up - if she has problems, she is welcome to send me the prescription and I will send them for her, get her to ring me. Luv nne Tertroxin As a matter of some urgency, please can those of you who are on synthetic T3 tell me what the situation is regarding the supply of T3. I have an urgent request from a gentleman who's wife is on T3 and she is about to run out. He says their local pharmacy and the national one in their town have no supplies whatsoever and say that cannot get any. Sheila Get a FREE AOL Email account with unlimited storage. Guest guest
Hi Sheila, To the best of my knowledge there is none- except for small unclaimed supplies here and there. I’ve just got some from the pharmacy attached to the health centre , this is normally for the use of villagers who do not have a pharmacy in their home village, not for us townies. Otherwise I have been without prescribed supplies for 6 weeks. I am alive only thanks to IPS. Guest guest
If you cannot get Tertroxin you might be able to get the generic liothyronine temporarily. The private doctor who prescribed T3 for me refused to prescribe Tertroxin, his prescriptions always said liothyronine. When I asked for Tertroxin he said it was the same thing anyway. Guest guest
Hi Sheila, Update. Went to collect the promised T3 and was met by a wall of incomprehension with everybody denying the existence of any T3. Yet again they promised to phone me if any supplies arrive. This is an utter shambles. Hi Sheila, To the best of my knowledge there is none- except for small unclaimed supplies here and there. Guest guest
Hi Lilian, My local Boots said that Tertroxin was the only NHS T3 available. Guest guest
Sorry but I cannot remember who made it as it was some time ago now, and I didn't take note of it anyway. I used to get it from http://www.pharmacy2u.co.uk. I made a search on their website for liothyronine but there wasn't any result. I have a feeling that he was spelt slightly different on the prescription. I got it from there because they were very efficient and a lot cheaper than getting it from other chemists. It was just the plain generic T3. Maybe Tertroxin is the only one on the NHS because mine was a private prescription, but I would have thought will all this NHS money saving activities, they would go for the generic rather thant he trade name. Guest guest
It was tri-iodothyronine that he wrote on the prescription. Lilian

Guest guest
I have tertroxin I bought from inhousepharmacy.com which was expensive - I only used a couple of the pills & I am not sure if I will try it again. They took 2-3 weeks to come & I paid VAT as well on them. A cheaper way to get it is a generic from mexmeds4you.com, although my usual credit card would not work on this. Then I tried another card I have not used for years & this worked & within about a minute this credit card company phoned me to check that this was ok. I guess they are being very careful with this type of place. Val

Guest guest
You could try phoning Goldshield and tell them it is an emergency and they might send some out. Their number is 0208 588 9131 There is a telephone number for emergency supplies of Tertroxin that you may provide to your local pharmacy: 01234 248657, contact name is Matt at Healthcare Logistics." Might be worth a try. Make sure your chemist asks or liothyronine as I don't think they are making tertroxin anymore. Is liothyronine on the prescription? Chemists will only ask for what is on the prescription. Her GP should be writing liothyronine on it. Lilian TERTROXIN Does anybody have up to date information on the situation regarding Tertroxin. I believe Tertroxin has been removed from prescription and that generic liothyronine will now take its place. However, I have just had somebody write to me telling me she is on 20 mcgs Tertroxin 3 x a day and is about to run out in 2 days. Her GP has written to her telling her she cannot get Tertroxin anymore and he has written her a prescription fo 200 mcgs thyroxine. She is very frightened as she has a severe conversion problem and is also allergic to lactose. If anybody can help, please let me know as a matter of urgency. Guest guest
Sheila, This is from the NHS NELM website (National Electrnic Library for Medicines (www.nelm.nhs.uk)). There is no other reference to tertroxin or liothyronine. (Is this because the patent (or whatever it is) has run out and now its available as a generic drug rather than a particular brand? I presume that the GP is mistaken and should have prescribed liothyronine and not thyroxine? Guest guest
I don't think the GP was mistaken and wrote levothyroxine instead of liothyronine Gill, because he also wrote 200 mcgs. I think the brand name has probably vanished and now everybody will be prescribed Liothyronine - the generic version of synthetic T3. Guest guest
Hi, I finally got my prescribed tertroxin saturday- I don’t know how long the chemists ( Boots) have had it in stock- they promised they would phone me as soon as it came in.Grrr! I didn’t ask any questions then as is was so busy , but will go back to pick up my remaining prescription later in the week when it is quieter and find out what is going on. The repackaging is just 28 pills in a tub instead of 100 so the chemist doesn’t have to count them individually. I’ve been fine as I got cytomel from IPS, but I resent having to pay for the little med I get prescribed on the NHS for free- I have to pay for my Armour and half of my T3 anyway. Tertroxin is far cheaper than Cytomel, though I have a URL for cheaper cynomel ] TERTROXIN Does anybody have up to date information on the situation regarding Tertroxin.
