Guest guest
Borax itself is a mineral. The " B " is from Boron, which is a different atom than Bromine (Br, I think). There are 100 or so atoms in the universe, and it's really interesting to learn about them. The structure of the anion [b4O5(OH)4]2¡Ý in borax (wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borax) Borax may have added fragrance etc. which is could cause issues, but I do use it, and it's amazing stuff. Makes great Gak too, if you have young'uns. I visited the borax mines when I was a very young kid. It was very hot, and kind of scary (big machines). But to my mind, borax and baking soda and vinegar are the basics of Home Life. Guest guest
Thanks, very interesting. Sounds like it does a lot of the same things as baking soda. Guest guest
have any of you been to that earth clinic site? They talk about using 1/8 tsp borax in a liter of water internally for problems like candida and rosacea. One woman claims that it helped her thyroid. I am NOT promoting this therapy, I am just curious if anyone else has come across this and what they think. greg > > i googled borax and found a website that offers a free download on > this page http://www.dialcorp.com/index.cfm?page_id=56 > its towards the bottom for the free page > > > to find out more about the natural laundry booster, multi-purpose > cleaner and home deodorizer. >
Guest guest
Hi; I have used borax for candida with great result. I also use itt for laundry (together with prills or bleach / ecover ) Works great here too ! Also as a shampoo; but it needs som essential oil to not smell like a wet dog! I am now experimenting with iodine; I remove moles etc; I think I have had a deficiency for some time and maybe that is one of the reasons I never got rid of the candida completely (before the borax) --- In iodine , "
Guest guest
Borax does work very well for getting rid of fleas, my two dogs had fleas pretty bad , flea bombs would barely get rid of the adult fleas, would not touch the flea eggs though. so we got a box of borax and sprinkled it around the house on the carpets, left it for about a week to let it get down into the rugs , then vacuumed it up. The fleas were gone no eggs had hatched and years later still no fleas. borax dries out the fleas bodies and their eggs, I believe thats how it works. sherie > > you mentioned fleas..my husband had a remodel of a house and the last > tennants left a zillion and 2 fleas ok it felt like it..we used dawn > dish soap..the old fashioned one without the bleach or any > antibacterial stuff we also used it in the yard and fleas were > gone..on the carpet it didnt matter because the owner was having the > carpets cleaned it was a rental property..so fleas were gone.. >
Guest guest
I am severely chemically sensitive and use Borax for laundry and cleaning sometimes. I tolerate it very well. I know some other people that react to it but then I have friends who can't even use baking soda which seems very benign to most people who are pretty sensitive to a lot of stuff. As far as effectiveness, it works well in my opinion. I've read that it is supposed to suppress mold growth on surfaces. I mostly use it because it cleans well but does not have any fragrance. I also use grapefruit seed extract and water for this reason. It is supposed to kill microbes esp. fungus I believe.
Guest guest
How did you apply the dawn soap to the yard? I've used nematodes for fleas but I'm concerned (hasn't been confirmed yet) that the nematodes may cause parasite problems (internally) if my dog inadvertently ingests some (she's a lab-- she's going put stuff in her mouth). Did the dawn soap hurt the lawn? thanks...
