Iodine Loading Test Kit

My kit came a couple days ago via FedEx. It contains a 3 L orange bottle, 3 small collection bottles (1 for spot test, 2 for loading), one big red plastic cup, a box and envelope for mailing, and a few pages of information and forms.

Since I had not ordered the spot test, I called to find out if I needed to take it. No, I didn't need to take it, and I wouldn't be charged for it if I didn't take it.

4 Iodoral tablets came in a separate package via US mail, complete with lot number.

The instructions for the 24-hour loading test are as follows:

* If this is a retest please abstain from taking your daily dosage of Iodine/Iodide supplements 24 - 48 hrs prior to testing....

[i figured this one applies to me even though it is not a "retest". I didn't do the first pre-iodine test. So I stopped the Iodoral for two days. I had no noticeable reaction to abruptly stopping the Iodoral.]

* If you are allergic to iodine, do not perform this test....

* If you are doing the 24 hour loading test only, start the 24 hour loading test any time after the first void of the morning. Do not collect and send a first morning void specimen, but just void and flush like you normally do, and proceed to step 1 below.

* If you are doing both the spot test and the 24 hour loading test, you may do these in succession. You will do Test 1, and begin the 24 hour loading test, step 1 below.

* If possible, keep this 3L (large orange) container refrigerated during this process.

1. Take 4 of the Iodine/Iodide tablets that are included in the kit. Please make note of the time. This is the beginning of your 24 hour specimen collection. Before you throw away the cellophane wrapper, write the number stamped on the wrapper on your Side Effects Reporting Form. If there is a Lot # on your Iodoral Brochure, please ignore this....

[i was a little apprehensive about taking 50 mg all at once after 's experience, but I had no noticeable reaction to the large dose.]

2. After taking the 4 Iodine/Iodide tablets, begin collecting each subsequent urine void for a 24-hour period in the 3L (large orange) container. Every time you urinate collect the void in the catch cup provided in your kit, and then pour it from that catch cup into the 3L (large orange) container. Rinse cup between voids. Do this for a 24 hour period. Include the first void of the second morning toward the end of the 24 hour period. If you sleep past the ending time of your 24 hour loading test, you must still include the first urinary void of this second morning.

[i hope I don't go unconscious and miss one of the collections. I don't have a Plan B if I mess up.]

3. Measure your total volume by placing the 3L container upright on its end on a flat surface. Record the total 24-hour volume (from the orange container to the closest 25 cc/ml) on the label of the clear plastic 2 oz specimen bottle marked "24 hour". Also, write the date of the end of your 24 hour collection and your name on the label of this clear plastic 2 oz specimen bottle. Close the white spout on the orange bottle, and mix gently but thoroughly. Now pour a sampling from this 3L (large orange) container into this clear plastic 2 oz (24 HR) specimen bottle. Please do not fill it to the brim, but rather leave some space at the top. (Please note that one drop of food coloring, FDC Green #3, has been added to the 2 oz clear plastic bottles. Depending on the acidity of the urine, the color will change to emerald green, turquoise, or blue.) If you have only the orange bottle one time in the 24 hour period, there will be no need to use the second 2 ounce 24 hour loading bottle....This concludes your 24 hour loading test.

5. Complete the Results Requisition form included in your kit. Also, please complete the Client/Customer Account Application Form, if you are sending payment with your specimens. The Side Effects Reporting Form should be returned with your specimens, whether side effects were experienced or not during the 24 hours after taking the tablets.

There are then detailed packing and shipping instructions. It has to be taken to a FedEx office. It takes two days to get there, so best to do it at the beginning of the week and mail before Thursday. They say to allow a 7 to 10 day turnaround time before the test results are back.

I started the test at 10 am this morning, and will finish it at 10 am tomorrow (Weds). I'll wrap it up according to their detailed instructions and take it to the local FedEx office Weds afternoon. I should have results back in a couple weeks. and then I'll call Flechas to set up the free phone consult. Meanwhile, I will gradually start reducing the Iodoral back to one.

I have done it 5 times now. It is fine for most. It is after a week or more of supplementation that people can have issues from detoxing.

Has anyone here ever taken the Iodine loading test kit? Where you collect your urine after taking in 4 Iodine pills?If so, can you tell me your experience with it? Did it make you sick at all? I have ordered the test, but am nervous that it might make me sick.ThanksMia
