Realistic expectatins of CI

I just finished watching a war movie A Bridge Too Far. It was an Netflix instant

movie and partially open captioned.  I  missed  most of the English dialog.  I

heard the actors voices but I realized that I was hearing vowels and not

consonants of speech.  The artillery and machine gun fire was loud enough.

 

We are a group that wants to hear.  DVD with closed captions is all fine and

good. But if unable to hear with the CI what is the point of it?   Comments?
