Thanks, ,

I have always been outside the box; wasn't even aware there WAS a box,

because I've been such a non conformist, even as a child in a parochial

school. When I had to do clinical field practices for Occupational

Therapy Assisting, they all had " dress codes " You had to wear a lab

coat, usually dark slacks and a white blouse. So I had tons of those.

Some even said what kind of shoes you had to wear. But nobody mentioned

earrings, socks, or watches. So I have some of the strangest socks,

watches and earrings, and of course decorate my BTE processors. Still

wear the socks - and sometimes they match each other as well as the

outfit.

You CAN be outrageous, just choose not to. You get old enough, you

don't give a flying leap what people think of you, because you realize

that most of the time they don't think of you at all. So do what you

want.

First time I met the Dr. who eventually did my implant, he introduced

himself with, " Hello, I'm Dr. Rizer " And my reply was, " How nice for

you. " Years later we were having lunch and he still remembered my reply.

Said it was the most unusual reply he ever heard in all his experiences.

So you, too, can make an impression. Another good one is, " Nice to meet

you " followed by " Nice to be met " .

But thanks for your nice words. I've often been criticized, but more

often copied!

- you are an absolute RIOT!!! I need to have you around...I don't

have enough nerve to do the things you do! But I can sure see the

value... Continue to be true to yourself! You lighten people's loads.

doctor....

And on top of wearing different shoes, I came home that night and slipped

in water. That was the closest I have been in 40 years of doing the

splits! Yeow!!!

Subject: OT Vickie, the fashion maven

It's a fashion statement. Whoopi Goldberg intentionally wears unmatching

socks - she buys them that way. When I'm finished with laundry, I match

the remaining socks by style rather than color. So sometimes I'm wearing

one orange and one purple. Who looks at your feet? There was an actress

who used to ALWAYS wear the same style shoe, but in 2 different colors.

Think of yourself as a trend setter rather than addlepated.

First time I saw the dizzy doctor, I had boots on, so I wore one red and

one purple sock. He had me take my boots off to test my balance. I told

him this was going to tell him MORE about me than any test he'd ever

done. So he looks at my feet and said, " Your socks don't match " I told

him, " Don't be silly, I have on red pants and a purple top, and the socks

match those. think outside the box " He's never forgotten it.

Don't worry about it . I went to work this morning with two TOTALLY

DIFFERENT shoes on. Second time this year I have done it! Sigh........ .
