Guest guest
Jackie, you mensch, Ask the chiropractor. See what she says about trigger finger. Mothers will be mothers. They never change. She's had 84 years of practice, and could run a travel agency for guilt trips. But if she's 84, you're old enough to walk away from insults. You can even remove your speech processor when the tirade begins. Caught in her own little world of how important she is, with no regard for someone else's feelings. Sometimes I wonder if Mom was jealous. Sometimes you have to wonder if they are just not very nice people. You don't have to love your parents, just because you were born to them. You can choose your friends, you're stuck with your family. There are a lot of people with mental problems who also have children. Which may have caused the problems in the first place. My mother was 42 when she had me, and never realized why God gives children to YOUNG women as a rule. When I babysit a 4 and 5 year old I am constantly reminded that there is a reason why young people have children. My mother was actually OK, until she hit the Change, and went kind of berzerko. I still have friends of hers who come up and tell me what a wonderful woman she was and how much I must miss her. I always reply that I'm happy they have such good memories of her. Thinking to myself, I don't. So be happy, change the things you can (your attitude) accept what you can't change (your mother) and know the difference between what you can and cannot change. Life is a banquet and most poor folks are starving! (Auntie Mame) I do have access to a chiropractor, actually, and she doesn't charge me. So I will definately ask her about it. Thanks so much. Oh - and thanks for sharing that story about your Mom. Let's just say it helps to know I'm not alone. At 84 mine is still good at it. Guest guest
It seems like everything that happens with my body is so out of the ordinary. When I had my carpal tunnel, it was determined that it absolutely did not come from repetitive movements of hands, wrists or anything else. They linked it to my Graves Disease (high thyroid level). The surgery fixed everything, though recently I am experiencing " trigger finger " in the hand where I had the surgery. I had an x-ray done and nothing could be seen. Could this be a sign of carpal tunnel returning?? Say it ain't so! Jackie :o/ **************Join ChristianMingle.comĀ® FREE! Meet Christian Singles in your area. Start now! Guest guest
Jackie, Your post is part of the reason why I don't want CTS surgery. My physical therapist told me that even if I have surgery, there is no guarantee that it will prevent my symptoms. Since I type on the computer as well as my Perkins Brailler everyday, I would only be encouraging my CTS to redevelop.
Guest guest
Your trigger finger could be caused from scar tissue. I had that happen with my thumb. I had cut my hand between the thumb and the first finger really bad and had several stitches. Two years later my thumb would lock up when I tried to bend or unbend it. The Dr. removed the scar tissue that had formed around a tendon (think it was)because of the original surgery. Second surgery was done right in the Dr's office and I have have not had any problems since. (15 years) Suzanne Nebraska USA Surgery 1/14/08 R ear N.Freedom Activation Date 2/14/08 Dr. W. Guest guest
Jackie, my good woman, It ain't so. Trigger finger is different from carpal tunnel. There is a nodule that forms on the tendon right before it slides through the tendon sheath of your finger. So the finger will go one way, but get stuck, and not go back. Hence " trigger finger " Many people who use firearms get it from pulling the trigger on a weapon repeatedly. I think I got it from carrying heavy bags on one finger. Feels like Trigger, Roy 's horse, stepped on your finger. Cortisone shots don't help, hand therapy (one session where he did ultrasound) didn't help, and the chiropractor showed me where to massage way up the forearm to help it. If you move your finger while you have your hand on your forearm, you'll see where the muscle is that controls that finger. I have it in my left " insult finger " , which is kind of embarassing. Nothing like opening your hand, and then having your middle finger stick out when it's not on purpose! See a chiropractor. Cortisone shots don't help, and up your blood sugar sky high. Surgery is an option I'm not opting for. though recently I am experiencing " trigger finger " in the hand where I had the surgery. I had an x-ray done and nothing could be seen. Could this be a sign of carpal tunnel returning?? Say it ain't so! Guest guest
Thanks, ne - that makes perfect sense. I've had repercussions in other places on my body from numerous surgeries. So far ir isn't bothering me enough to do anything about it. So we'll see. Jackie ) **************Check all of your email inboxes from anywhere on the web. Try the new Email Toolbar now! Guest guest
Thanks, . I did have a cordisone shot in it back in Dec. and it helped instantly. (only 1/4 dose) I certainly don't need that pain again - nor messing with my blood sugar (have diabetes 2). This time it isn't snapping as much. I do have access to a chiropractor, actually, and she doesn't charge me. So I will definately ask her about it. Thanks so much. Oh - and thanks for sharing that story about your Mom.
