Guest guest
Normally I eat around 1200 cal a day, but now I get to eat 1450-1550. I'm still having problems getting the portions and number of grams of carbs and protein per day correct. Even though I'm eating clean carbs, the numbers are still up. Guest guest
That's the start of the vicious cycle where you cut your calories and get good results, so you cut them a little more, and a little more, and a little more, and pretty soon you're scared to eat at all AND you're not losing any more weight. For the best results you want to eat the *most* that you can while still losing weight/inches. If you can lose a pound a week eating 1500 calories a day, dropping it to 1200 or 1100 or 1000 isn't an improvement. It just tells your metabolism that the famine is on and it better slow down accordingly. It also helps if you don't eat exactly the same number of calories every day. Let it go up and down by a couple hundred. If you're using palm/fist portions, eating a variety of foods, and taking a free day, that should be happening already. Guest guest
I was there a while back and totally jacked up my system. Now I meticulously count calories, but do eat more of them. I'm still having a hard time figuring out carbs and protein to allot per day without making it too complicated, and I've only been getting about 10 g of fat per day. Not good and I really need help with this. Guest guest
An easy way to bring your fat up would be to add a tablespoon of flax oil or Udo's. Then you wouldn't have to change anything else about your meals. You could also add small portions of healthy fats to your regular meals - a little peanut butter on an apple, a little olive oil in a salad, a couple wedges of avocado on a sandwich or salad, salmon for dinner once in awhile. Guest guest
Met the audiologist this morning, went through a few things and put the hardware selection in writing. I told him that while I totally understood it was a long shot, I have a naming ceremony for my first grandchild coming up in mid-April, and it would be wonderful if I could have the CI activated by then (and, on the other hand, that I did not want to schedule the surgery in the week before the event). I'm self-employed, I told him -- if you get a cancellation, I can go on 48 hours notice. It's a half-hour drive from home. I called my daughter to tell her the latest, then got back to work, starting by checking my email -- and there it was: they have a cancellation. Short version: I'm getting the implant a week from today!!! It's taken a little bit of scrambling, but I have all the pre-op stuff lined up. " Excited " would be an understatement. Now I just have to settle myself down. I have a week-and-a-half's worth of work on my desk that has to get done first.... > > I had my appointment with Dr. Niparko at s Hopkins this > morning, and I am sky-high right now. Guest guest
Congratulations!!! Keep us posted, and I'll be praying everything goes like clockwork and that you recover quickly. How exciting - you should be hearing something by the time you have your grandchild's naming ceremony. ________________________________ From: trainminstrel <trainminstrel@...> Sent: Tuesday, February 17, 2009 11:33:49 AM Subject: Re: Yes!!
