I agree .  My sister got the MedEl implant and has to have the remote

control with her all the time in case she wants to change something.  For me,

I've adapted to the buttons on the controller and would prefer to keep it that

way.  Hopefully someone will put a bug in Cochlear's ear that if they do develop

the remote to be sure to have some way for the blind to access.  I can't

remember if the buttons on Jan's remote had braille on it or not.

Subject: The Next CI Upgrade

If Cochlear designs a speech processor with a remote control, I hope the

processor itself will also contain buttons that will allow a person to change

from one program to another. I can tell you that if I had a remote, I'd lose it

the same day I received it. LOL! Another issue would be deafblind access. If a

processor can only be controlled via remote and its' buttons cannot be easily

identified tactually, this will cause problems for deafblind users.

,

My former CI audi automatically ruled out a Med-El CI for me due to the

processor being inaccessible to the deafblind. Note that this was in 2004, so

things may have changed since then.

,

Exactly. I have a hard enough time keeping track of my remotes for the stereo,

DVD player, TV and VCR (yes, I still own one! LOL).

Ahhh he is talking about the caliber of handguns which can be .22 or .32

or .45 which is where he got his idea. LOL Smaller caliber means smaller

weapon which is typically what a woman would prefer over the heavier and

kick (blank) .45 or .357s. LOL
