Re: Batteries for CI?

I had to purchase a package at the pharmacy one day when I had completely

forgotten to replace my battery stash in my purse.  I was so relieved to

discover they were compatible. They didn't last as long but they were better

than silence!

Dan,

You can try them but you may find they dont last long. CI's have more

demanding power requirements than do hearing aids.

If you were arrested for being kind, would there be enough evidence to

convict you?

Ok, I ordered the CI batteries. And they are on its way.

In the meantime, if I were to put the hearing aids batteries (i.e. supposedly

the CI batteries don't arrive in time), how long should I expect the hearing

aids batteries to last in my CI? Can I at least get about a few days worth of

wearing them in my CI?

Thanks!

Only one way to find out, Dan. Try it. Many batteries made for hearing

aids dont have enough power for the CI. The worst that can happen is they

die a quick death.

Dan, I have used regular 675 hearing aid batteries in my CI in a bind and

they lasted 4 days. It really depends on your CI program as to how long the

batteries would last.

Dan,

I have never seen the p675 on shelf's at the pharmacy I go to, just the

regular 675. Suggest you ask your local pharmacy if they have the p675.

Dan,

You can purchase size 675 batteries at WalMart, Walgreen's, any other

drug store, many grocery stores that have pharmacies with them, and

hearing aid dispensers. So if you forget your batteries, you're never

far from a place to get more. And they will run the Cochlear Implant

processors, but not as long as the batteries from Cochlear do.

Processors are a high power draw, so you're better off buying the ones

that are designed to be used to implants. If you wear a hearing aid that

uses 675 size batteries, you can run them off in a hearing aid. There

will still be power left in the battery after it is no longer powerful

enough to run the processor.

I look for toys and such that use that size battery.

Of course if you are using the rechargeables and forget to take a

spare with you, you had better remember to take the battery cage for the

disposable batteries.

Which is why I only use disposables. Just toss a 6 pack in my purse

and I'm good.

Later,

Betty,

I also heard that one could purchase p675 batteries at a pharmacy? Is

that the case?

Thanks!
