is correct. Those of us who were seeking cochlear implantation

back in the early days had to meet different criteria than those in

place today. Profound deafness with no usable hearing with hearing

aids was the criteria back then.

tested October 1987, implanted December 1987.

(Implant still working great, and I've been bilateral since this past

April.)

If you don't mind me asking Muriel, was there any particular reason

why it was 21 years between the two implants? What was the most

pleasant surprise about your most recent implant, compared to the

first one?
