Guest guest
Dan, Apologies if my common sense approach does not appeal to you. Nothing wrong with asking questions but many you have asked can only be answered by your doctor. When to wash your hair, how much can I lift, and so on. Sure everyone will have their take on it but your doctor is the expert, even if he doesnt have a CI in his own head. Now you asked about sleeping on the implanted side. Its been what, 4 months? If you cannot sleep on that side by now, why? Pain? Discomfort? Or just not sure? Your doctor still is the the one to ask this. Give him more credit. The surgeons and audis may be busy but answering questions is part of their job descriptions. Certainly you can ask questions of us who have CIs and learn what their experiences are. But no one here is qualified to answer certain types of questions and I will continue to suggest redirectiing such questions to one's doctor. And of course you are certainly free to do whatever you wish with such replies. Have a great weekend! *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* Contrary to wishful thinking, Labor Day IS a day of HoneyDew work around the house. & Dreamer Doll ke7nwn Newport, Oregon N24C 8/2000 Hookup rclark0276@... http://webpages.charter.net/dog_guide/
Guest guest
That's much the same as my experience, Jen. I am implanted in the left ear and I slept on that side right from the beginning. I was never worried about breaking stitches etc, I figured out that the powers that be, knew more than me and would have allowed for something like this. Thats my normal sleeping side and the only thing that would have stopped me, was if I was in physical pain when I tried to do it and I never was. Guest guest
I've been reading this thread and haven't answered because I didn't want to get involved. But I am now, because I felt that I had been " attack " here as well. First, Anne, I think what you said your response is great, and true. These boards and any board/forums on the Internet are just places for people to go and get other people's opinion. I don't think anyone is asking for medical advice, scientific facts or otherwise. Dan asked a question, so maybe it wasn't worded exactly right, who really cares. I've written many things on the Internet only to go back later and edit because upon reading it, it didn't sound right. Like Dan said, the planed, plans or already consulted his doctor, but face it folks, doctors are just human and they don't always give you your answers. Case in point, and this is OT, but I had visited a doctor concerning a medical condition. He gave me the information, he wanted me to have, upon my research I talked to him about other issues concerning this condition. He was floored that I knew as much as I did, as he withheld information from me. I'm one of those overly informed patients who doesn't leave my medical care totally up to a physician. I am in no means saying all doctors are like this, but this is why people seek others opinions, I see nothing wrong with it. This reason I come to this forum is for 2 reasons, one to seek opinions and two, to offer it. I have my own personal opinions of what gets said here and won't go into that, but it's this kind of behavior that makes me want to find a different set of people to converse with. Guest guest
For what it's worth, those pillows that are soft and squishy and filled with little pellets are kind of fun. Only problem is they tend to get warm real fast. I have one for around my neck, and another one shaped like a football. Very comfy, but like I said they heat up for some reason. Found in discount stores like WalMart. I was sleeping on my implanted side with my hand under my head very soon after surgery. ____________________________________________________________ Click here for great computer networking solutions! http://thirdpartyoffers.juno.com/TGL2141/fc/Ioyw6i3oHgMiY1P6xULb0sjNSN9KZDZUIOSM\ BNKUTc8DbuBaUoMuZt/
