2. Movie Theater Access Goes Back to Court

The 9th District Court of Appeals in San Francisco heard arguments this week

in a case about access to movie theaters, via captioning and description,

that began in Arizona. While there hasn't been a decision yet, advocates for

more access to movies in theaters, and those involved on the theater side of

things, will most assuredly want to learn more, and to monitor the case.

Here is a link to a summary of the case and this week's courtroom arguments

by lawyers representing each side:

What is our role? The Media Access Group continues to provide information

about our efforts-- both in captioning and describing films and in

contributing to technical standards and implementation of access features in

additional digital cinema (including 3D) equipment-- to all the players

involved in this case, within the film and theater industry and, of course,

to audiences that rely on these services to enjoy films. Questions,

comments? Send them our way... access@....
