all up to speed!

Not to worry, I've been reading everything and from time to time I've

wanted desperately to jump in but being that I'm reading from my

blackberry, it's a tad difficult.....

But thought you'd all want this tidbit (juicy yes). I after about a

year of research, visiting clinics etc... I have taken the LEAP of

faith and chosen a clinic, lo and behold, they had a date open......

(drum roll) Jan 11th! Mighty quick !!!

Pre op on the 10th and the actual cutting of my skin (eeek) on the 11th.

Now the skinny down folks, we're doing my right ear even though I'm deaf

in BOTH ears ! Why??? :) Good question, let's put it this way

(settle your fingers over the mouse and read along) -

Many moons ago, mom had the German Measles while she had me in her

tummy. Yummy ? NO. (many of you will laugh cuz you know just what I

mean) [:D] Because of those lovely, scratchy measles not only was I

Deaf (no problemo) but I also had vision problems. READ: Catataracts.

My right eye was up for surgery as a result [:))] and this being a

not so technologically advanced society as yet, they nicely and kindly

removed the darn lens from my eye leaving me with just that tiny bit of

peripheal (sp?) vision. [:-B]

So all my life I let my left eye do all the work ya know lip reading,

seeking out visual cues, putting the pieces of the puzzles together.

(oh joy what fun it is to have an eye! aka Jingle Bells)

As to my deaf stuff, they were kind enuff to put a hearing aid on me,

well my left ear didn't tolerate it so well nor was there any sound

based reason to try, it was off the charts anyway, no banana for it! My

right ear was another story, had some tiny bit of useable hearing so on

went the hearing aids.

Yeah I had those HUGE body aids (can anyone say YUCK! in GRAY! [:- & ]

Bleech) and then the smaller body aid then finally that nice behind the

ear :) I was even able to manage hearing on the phone enough to be able

to make calls for pizza, doctor appts and whatnot before the idea of

Relay came about (in exchange for a slice or two of pizza OF COURSE!

[:P] ) and listen to great music (can any one say Journey, Foreigner or

Bee Gees?).

Alas,

Time has its way of taking its toll, and at my age now, my eyes begin to

struggle (I'm fine but it's age ya know) and I worry about the stress I

deal with daily on my neck having to do so much with one eye as I can no

longer hear on the phone, or my music! My hearing aids squeal like a

mouse every 5 minutes and we can no longer find a mold to fit and STAY

in one place as my ear is sooo smoothed out from years of ...... ya'll

know the drill :)

So with allll that in mind, and knowing that my brain has the ability to

stimulate itself, work hard and whatnot, why not go with hte right ear,

if LATER somewhere down the road, we can add the left ear :) [b-)]

Meanwhile, I get excited and nervous. Time is near!

Be back when I can find a blog that I can operate off my blackberry (

[:D] ) and chronicle all this. Anyone out there know of an easy way to

post and link with blogs via blackberry send 'em my way :)

Sutter wagging tail excitedly!
