What's Up with Hybrid Cochlear Implants?

This question pops up often in my inbox and here's where we stand today on

combined electric / acoustic stimulation.

MED-EL, with it's EAS system , was the first to market with the technology.

Now available in the European market, not approved yet in any other

regions that I am aware of.

The Duet and Duet 2 processors are based on MED-EL's Opus 1 and 2 platforms

Cochlear's Hybrid is now available in Australia, New Zealand and S.E. Asia -

awaiting approval in the European, US and Canadian markets.

The Hybrid processor is based on the Freedom platform.
