Guest guest
Hi Barry, Well that sucks, timing wise. Is your 3G ready for repairs? If you can hold out for 18-24 months, and then upgrade to the N5, it would be better all around, wouldn't it? But meanwhile, see if your audi can get the ball rolling for insurance approval. The Freedom processor is good. It can hold several of what they call " sound suites " , so while each holds volume, AND sensitivity, you can get and ADRO and auto sens all on the same ONE program. There are 4 of these sound suites, and you can put 2 or 3 on each map, along with the vol & sens that's built in. And it holds 4 programs. Changing volume and sensitivity is different from the 3G. You press a toggle rather than use a wheel. And telecoil is easy to access from the same toggle switch. So not a bad deal. I'm using 2 of them - one for my older implant (13 years ago) and one for the N5 implant I had done in September because the N5 processor won't run SPEAK yet, and I can't get a map I can live with using ACE. So we went back to my backup Freedom processor mapped in SPEAK to use with the N5 implant. Will use this until they get around to making SPEAK available for the N5 processor. , I called Cochlear yesterday & they say the Nucleus five won't be avaiable for my upgrade until 18-24 months, & I am stuck with upgrading from my nuke 24 3-g to a freedom. They want one of my processors to surrender & $5350, & they feel my Blue Cross insurance may cover it. They said that when I see my new audi next week, she has to fill out a form for me to get the ball rolling, so we will see what happens. Again, I do very much appreciate your wisdom in these matters. As always...Barry in PA. ____________________________________________________________ Small Business Tools Compete with the big boys.
