Guest guest
Hi Bruce, You are welcome. I also meant to mention that music vocals take longer than the music. Those funny sounding vocals will sound a lot more natural with time too. All of the oldies but goodies sound just like they did prior to Meniere's now that I have the CIs. Just keep listening and things will improve with time. Jim > > > > I was activated two days, Thursday. From the first moment I was turned on I could hear clearly without distortion. I heard music all day long, every instrument was clear, although Louis Armstrong sounded a lot like Mama Cass and ny Cash sounded like June . I tested Friday. Before the CI I tested at 4% at 100 db and 24% at 105 db. Yesterday I tested at 100% at 25db. I literally can't believe my ears. This result is way beyond my wildest imagination. I want to thank you all for the encouragement I received in making my decision. it was only because of the information/ feedback I've received from you over the past couple of months that I was able to hear my daughter yesterday and help her with her homework. Just a dream before. I'm so excited to explore all the environments I live in. thank you all > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
My spasms have decreased a lot since I had the HM. I had a couple the first few nights in hospital, but have not had one since then.
Guest guest
So I rinsed everything out last night to be sure there was nothing left in my esophagus, and I spend the night puking up stomach acid, etc into my throat. So good news is I have an opening now. LOL Now what shall I have for breakfast?! Guest guest
The spasms can be really really bad after surgery or dialation. They usually get better. The doctors don't warn you about the spasms after surgery. I'm guessing 90% of the people here complain about really bad spasms right after surgery. The dissipate much like earthquake aftershocks. They get less frequent and less strong, but the worst ones are often when you are still in the hospital. The first ones are usually the first. They may go in streaks after surgery, I may not have them for days, or even a few weeks, then they can be almost constant, but not really strong for several days. You can take a milder pain killer to prevent them, or ease you through the beginning of them, just so you don't freak out they are coming on strong. The anticipation of a bad spasm day can trigger even more spasms. They are much like migraines, I think. Just worrying about getting them can make them come. If you can control them ahead of time, before they get bad then you relax. Many of us have taken antidepressants with anxiety medication and that seems to help spasms. I try to eat dry heavy bread and leave it in my esophagus without water to still the spasms, but I can drink water and rinse it down when I want. Something like HI Ho crackers, or saltine crackers are helpful, they eventually dissolve. Some people have had luck with popsicles. Sandy > > Ugh. The spasms!!! Non stop.
