Guest guest
Hi Rae, If Medicare pays for stuff, most other insurances will do so as well. And Medicare pays for batteries. BUT it has to be submitted to YOUR insurance as batteries to run a prosthetic device. Because they will NOT pay for hearing aid batteries to run a hearing aid. Go figure that one out. Easiest way is to get the batteries from Cochlear, and get the paperwork from them to submit to your insurance. They start the battle. But it will be coded as used in a prosthetic device. I think they consider it durable medical equipment or something like that. Just don't use the words " hearing aid " when you submit, because they will deny coverage so fast your head will spin. CI batteries are covered by insurance??? What insurance do you have? I was implanted with the N24 back in 02 and upgraded to the Freedom in 06 and after a 2 year arguement with United Health, ended up having to pay for the entire cost (6,000.00) of the upgrade because they said it wasn't covered. I've never even checked on batteries.
