Guest guest
I agree with several of you jumping out of your chairs when you figure out when you hear new sounds. I still am picking up new sounds and its so much louder than with my HAs as I had a 95-110dB loss in both ears. Now with the CI its in the 5-20dB range which is a huge change. I just became bilateral in May of this year and I am still trying to figure out how in the world did the sounds become so loud. It is so neat to be able to hear the different sounds and I'm thinking " did I really want this? " and I tell myself, " Yes, this is the best thing that happened to you not knowing what to expect and it has surpassed my expectations because you are doing so much better than what you were with hearing aids. " This will always be the best choice I made in my life. and I will always cherish it. I decided to go back to school this last semester and wow did everything change for me..I did not have to rely on sign language interpreters, I had CART and TypeWell, they were split 50/50 during my classes due to spread out over 4 mornings a week and the CART could not come all 4 days so the school provided the TypeWell. I did not like the TypeWell because I felt that I was missing out on things that I needed to hear. next semester, I will be having CART 100% of the time that I'm in lecture classes. I was able to maintain As in 4 of the 5 classes I took and that really helped me out some.
