Guest guest
Since we are talking cell phones.....a question to the group. Is there a cell phone avaialble that has built in VCO capability? I am a bit envious toward those that can hear well enough to use loops, coils, etc Unfortuantely I am not able to so I still am a VCO user. Works great at home on a land line phone with the right phone set with a screen and ok results with portable ones you plug into your cell like a Krowne (sp?) but I still cant find a cell phone that has that capability actually built into the phone. I know the technology is there its just a matter of a company bringing it to market. Any input from the crowd? Guest guest
Hi Sid. You bring up the same point that I was wondering about before I got my CI in September 2005. When I purchased my Sprint cell phone, the young salesman who really did not know what he was talking about told me it was capable of relay communications. I found that no matter how I tried, I could not access VCO relay directly. Very furious, I called Sprint technical help and told the person I was ready to discontinue my service. He was very nice, and told me to hold while he goes on line and finds out what I need. After a few minutes, he told me I would need another piece of equipment and gave me the website of a supplier. I did not like his example due to its large size, and my own websearch found the much smaller Krown unit which I obtained. I used it until I got my CI. Now I can hear well on the cell or land line, but I keep the Krown with me for emergencies when I go out. The funny thing is the Krown cost more than the cell phone. I don't know of any cell phone that you can use directly to access the VCO relay. They bend over backwards to help those with ALD's, but don't seem to want to tap the market of those who can't use ALD's and have to use the relay. If you do find such a phone, I'm sure a lot of us on this list would like to know about it. Good Luck! Sid Wooten <sjwo1@...> wrote: Since we are talking cell phones.....a question to the group.
