Dont know about Med El or AB but Cochlear devices are tested before you

head to recovery.

Med El devices are tested too...I specifically asked my surgeon this question

before my surgery. My surgeon tests all devices

I believe they are always tested, any brand. They bring the audiologist in,

and he makes sure the implant is responsive before the doc seals you up.

They told me when they went to do the test, the equipment decided to flake

out. They had another <whatever they use> at a hospital about 1/2 mile away.

The audiologist, who let's just say could stand to lose a few pounds, ran

over and got it, and ran back. They said he was drenched (Sept in Houston)

by the time he told the doc all was ok and close me up.

I still use him; he's a great audiologist (and could still stand to lose a

few :).

Hey, Stuart? Guess what? My present audiologist used to go to the

operating room to do the testing. Now he does it remotely by computer while in

a

building across town! He also did it from NY to Africa - when a NY

surgeon went there to implant a man. How awesome is that??? Jackie :o)
