Guest guest
Lets see, a couple of things I have done in the past with Hearing Aids or CI's. Get glow in the dark stickers from spencers gifts or simmilar and cut them to fit the processor. goes great with glow in the dark earmolds. (check out westone.com for those if your audi can't get them. I saw recently they are also doing 3D patterns on the outside of the earmolds such as stars and zig zags heat shrink tubing is available in many colors from any good electronic supply store. As the name says it will shrink to fit. a good way to change to different colors and being rubber it adds some grip Super seals can fit over some CI models, or CI condom as I coined the phrase. see my photo album here. If you cant find these westone also has them available. For the 3G in my pics I used the size medium and cut the bottom end off. As an auto mechanic it really helped keep the thing a bit cleaner. they seemed to last about a month before I had to replace with a new one. Kind of permenant but Krylon Plastic spray paint can be used for changing colors. I made one of my old 3G coils yellow that way But these are some Male mods that I made. Maybe some of the women here can give you more ladylike ideas.... My new freedoms are both Blue. Haven't got any pics of those up yet DJ > > please tell me (or everyone) how you put stuff on your processor i want to know!! oh and dolly dolphin im sorry i spelt your name wrong > > --------------------------------- > Check out the hottest 2008 models today at Autos. > >
Guest guest
How about some stickers? Go to the nail/nail polish aisle at a department store and see if you can find some nail decorative stickers. That's what I use for my hearing aid and I know I'll do the same with a CI later on. Guest guest
I was just reading your blog, you are not that far away from me. Did you know that CochlearAmericas offices are in Denver. you can make an appt to go visit them and also meet some of their staff, ask questions etc. As you are so close, you may want to visit them and the Cochlear devices are a good choice esp as the reps are within driving distance of your CI center if you have problems or need them to help out with your mapping etc. I had the Cochlear Audiologist come down to Colorado Springs a couple times to my mapping appts. Drop me an email if you want. also where did you get the figure for the cost for CI proceedure of over $100,000? its usually between $30-60,000 per ear DJ > > How about some stickers? Guest guest
There are sheets of sparkley things at scrapbook places, or WalMart in the scrap book aisle. They come on sheets with rhinestones and clear plastic backs, and are archive safe. You just peel off what you want and stick it on. I have them on my magnet section, and the outside and back of the processor cover itself (not the inside near the ear since it would hurt) The rhinestones are 3D, and very noticeable. I have stars, hearts, fruit, and so forth, various colors. Saw them once and bought what they had with no clue what I would do with them. This is why I have so much junk around the house, but when I need something I've got it. There is no such thing as too much bling!! please tell me (or everyone) how you put stuff on your processor i want to know!! oh and dolly dolphin im sorry i spelt your name wrong
Guest guest
You don't want to use spray paint, or fingernail polish or anything like that on a processor - especially not the Freedom !! the chemicals could adversely affect your skin. The plastic used in the manufacture of the processor is designed to be safe to wear. Adding spray on paint, etc. can cause allergic reactions, and since the Freedom doesn't disconnect from the rest of the unit, like the slip on covers for the 3G, you could potentially block an entry hole that is needed for sound. So stick with stickers - there are macho ones around as well. Kind of permenant but Krylon Plastic spray paint can be used for changing colors. I made one of my old 3G coils yellow that way
Guest guest
It was direct from the audiologist at the Rocky Mountain Ear Center (that does CIs) who gave me the $105,000 figure. Why it's that expensive, I don't know. I just know that RMEC is a really good center, my audiologists and even CI friends keep recommending them. And I was actually leaning more towards getting AB when I actually do get the implant. But I'm still keeping my options open and comparing and keeping up to date with my research as I wait. Guest guest
Hi: This is a comment on the cost of a CI. I had my surgery in April of this year. The cost of my surgery PLUS the CI Nucleus Freedom was $106,000. Insurance covered all of it but my deductible of $1,000. If you want more details, feel free to email me privately.
