Guest guest
Hey everyone:) I have to write this email because I'm so proud of my daughter. In 2007 she was struck down with bacteria spinal menigitus and she almost died but the end result was she rendered predominately deaf. This was a whole new ball game for both of us. I never felt so helpless and out of control of our lives as I did then. Up until then she was a normal very active child. She was 7. Now she is 10 years old. We learned how to sign, had bi lateral cochlear implants installed and tweaked for a year until it was as good as it was going to get. She played softball for the very first time when she was nine, then again when 10 and now for the very first time she tried out for the 5th grade traveling basketball team for her school and made it. Turns out she's actually very good.....gotta lot of potential is what I've been told....(makes me choke up for all she's been through) and out of all this she has kept her grades at an A average and she's really a good kid. I have to say I've learned a lot about my daughter through this life changing path that was given to us and I must say she's my hero.....my daughter, my heart.... my \ Lawson aka a very proud momma
