Guest guest
Rogene, I think you could drink coconut milk and get the same benefit. I am sure eating the coconut itself would be good, but maybe you wont' get the same amount of fat overall. I love coconut milk in smoothies. I buy mine at Trader Joe's..they sell organic coconut milk. By the way, I had the discomfort from the coconut oil at first too, but I think it was because I had too much too fast. I slowed it down to about a tablespoon every few days. There are so many products that have different benefits . . . one really can't take all of them at the same time! . . . I noticed that the article that Garth Nicolson, Ph.D. co-authored said something about essential sugars! I started using coconut oil a couple days ago . . . My stomach has felt like there's something foaming in there since I started. Not bad, not painful, but not comfortable either. I've used some in oatmeal, stir fry, in scrambled eggs, on graham crackers, put a little in my hot tea and mixed a bit in with some hamburger meat . . . So far hubby hasn't complained about the taste. I can taste it, but the taste is OK . . .just a bit different. I wonder if eating just plain coconut wouldn't be cheaper and just as beneficial though? It is nice as handcream too! Rogene
Guest guest
Ive said this in posts before, and sent some links too, but because coconut oil had mfa"s ( medium fatty acids) it is a faster more broken down type of good fat, because of that- you need to go slow with it in the beginning cuz it is quite a shocker to the digestive system at first. It is common known to cause cramping, diarehha, bloating or discomfort in the beginning stages. Esp if you take more than a teaspoon. I had to slow down to only one teaspoon a day for a month and move up, as I had cramping. My tummy hurt! Now I am up to 2 teaspoons a day, and feel better.
