Hi everyone:

I thought it might be of interest to mention a few more things about the OMS

Insurance Support program at Cochlear Americas. I posted the original

information in mid-July. Since then I have learned of some clarifying

points might be of interest to candidates and professionals who may be on

this list.

The primary hope in sharing this information is for OMS Insurance Support to

be one of the resources people think about as a referral resource and to

share information about them when it comes to helping those who may be

having insurance issues as an option. The goal is that with several

entities working on insurance issues on behalf of patients no candidate will

be denied coverage.

What they do:

OMS Insurance Support provides candidates with insurance preauthorization

and verification support for both the BAHA and CI procedures and services.

This service is available to ANYONE, no matter what device they have or have

chosen. They will never ask a patient what brand they have. OMS Insurance

Support will help candidates at any stage in the process - this means

verification of benefits, appealing denials, etc.

In addition, at no time does OMS Insurance Support ask for a donation from

the candidates and they will help candidates irrespective of device

manufacturer chosen. OMS has had a very high success rage of obtaining

insurance coverage for unilateral Cochlear Implants and is seeing increasing

positive results for bilateral Cochlear Implants.

So, if you are someone battling your insurance for coverage this is one

resource that should be high on the list! Last year OMS handled over 600

cases with a total of 5,000 patients helped over 20 years.
