Hi All,

Just got home. Hackensack University Medical Center is one of the best

hospitals in the country with an outstanding staff. Unfortunately, the

city's transit authority pulls in the sidewalks before 6:15 PM.

The initial stimulation was just beeps. I have four programs which become

progressively louder beeps,. This is designed not to overwhelm me with

stimuli. Using the bathroom I let the faucet run and heard the swishing of

the toilet bowl. More mapping will follow tomorrow morning.

Also, when reattaching the coil I hear more stimuli when pressing the coil

against the implant. So I have to find the lowest magnet that Cochlear

Americas gave me and see if my audide will exchange for a more powerful

magnet. The coil also falls off when I sometimes scratch my head.

The great thing though is that I heard. I was worried that I would be

greeted with silence upon activation. I am indebted to both Dr. Choe and

Meghan. The best is yet to come.

i was anxiously waiting for this report and so glad to read it this morning.

This really sounds great Gerald and I am so happy for you. It will just get

better from here. Today will probably be another good day for you and I can't

wait to read more. Just remember those baby steps. <smile>

I'm so happy you had a successful day!!  Enjoy listening to sounds...for me it

was the first time I turned on the light switch.  It sounded like a shotgun had

gone off next to my ear!  Boy was that loud.  Now it isn't even noticeable!

Yes, Gerald, the best is yet to come.  I look forward to hearing about YOUR CI

moments!!  Congratulations!

Hi  All,

Just got home.   Hackensack University Medical Center is one of the best

hospitals in the country with an outstanding staff.  Unfortunately,  the city's

transit authority pulls in the sidewalks before 6:15 PM.

The initial stimulation was just beeps.  I have four programs which become

progressively louder beeps,. This is designed not to overwhelm me with

stimuli.   Using the bathroom I let the faucet run and heard the swishing of the

toilet bowl.    More mapping will follow tomorrow morning.

Also, when reattaching the coil I hear more stimuli  when pressing the coil

against the implant.  So I have to find the lowest magnet that Cochlear Americas

gave me and see if my audide will exchange for a more powerful magnet.  The coil

also falls off when I sometimes scratch my head.

The great thing though is that I heard.  I was worried that I would be greeted

with silence upon activation.  I am indebted to both Dr. Choe and Meghan.  The

best is yet to come.
