Good luck on Monday. I'm sure everything will go wonderfully.

It's getting close!

I am a new member of this group. My cochlear implant surgery is scheduled for

Monday, February 7. I chose the Cochlear Nucleus 5 product. I am very anxious

about this procedure given all the possible things that can go wrong, but I'm

also confident that my surgeon (Dr. Telian at the University of Michigan)

knows what he's doing. I'm hopeful that all goes well.

I too chose the Nucleus 5 and was nervous in advance but was calm the day of

surgery. My surgery went quite well and the hearing that followed is wonderful.

I wish you every success as you take this step.

Get some applesauce and refrigerate it just in case you have a sore throat from

where the anesthesia tube goes down during the surgery. Nothing soothed my

burning throat as much as ice cold applesauce. Second surgery I didn't have the

sore throat but I had the applesauce anyway. Smooth sailing.

It's getting close!

Congratulations Bob, on taking the step to get a Cochlear Implant. There have

been that many procedures done around the world now, that its kind of getting to

be every day surgery. I'm sure your surgeon will do a great job and your hearing

history will determine what kind of results you are likely to get on activation.

Best wishes for the surgery. Please keep in touch with the group and ask as many

questions as you like. There are so many active members here, that you will

almost certainly get your questions answered, or your fears allayed.

Best of luck to you Bob,

I just had the procedure this past Monday at the University of Penn. Dr.

Bigelow was the surgeon.

I am amazed at how well it went...three hours for the surgery and one hour for

recovery and then home.

I have had no discomfort, no dizziness or loss of taste. Stitches come out next

Tuesday.

Activation is scheduled to start February 24th.

Hopefully your recovery will be as effortless as mine was.

The anxiety leading up to the surgery was worse that the event.

I will be thinking of you on the 7th.

So am I Debbie! LOL Otherwise I would probbaly never hear the end of

it, being that you could just run over to the coast. Which you still could

do if you wish. I want to meet the lovely Leone.

I wouldn't dare criticize Debbie's choice cuz she could just walk to our

place to let me have it. Actually, she could drive but she's afraid to

drive up the hill on the way here because of the steep drop-off on one side.

;<)

There are trees to stop you now, Debbie, if you should wander off.

Thanks for the invitation, Bob, but at 82, while I don't mind chugging up

and down our hill I don't want to drive 100 miles.
