As for " I wish I hadn't wait too long to get it " , keep in mind CI's weren't as

good 10 or 15 years ago as they are now.

A good question. I got mine two years ago. And would I have wanted to get a CI

15 or 20 years ago based on the way CI's were back then, then my answer is " no "

or " not really " . However, would I have wanted to get a CI 15 years ago if the

CI's were as good back then as they are now, then the answer is " yes " . I guess

that's a good way of putting it, grin.

Don't forget if you had the implant back then, you would have had to have

another surgery for an upgrade. Whereas that's not the case with the newer CI's.

Yes, and although with due respect to those that are currently benefiting from

bilateral implants, that's one reason why I'm in no rush to get the second

implant. Cause not only is technology advancing at a pretty good pace, but so is

science.

You make a good point. I actually would have to say I would get the implant if

it was 10-15 years ago. I wouldn't have missed out a lot of things. It

would've gave me so much more opportunities.

My concern is that if I were to get the 2nd implant, I would not be able to

benefit from other things, particularly from the medical / scientific field such

as hair cell regeneration, stem cells research, gene therapy, etc. To each his

or her own.

Besides, I currently have the Freedom and would like to upgrade to the Nucleus

5, hopefully sometime next year. So that itself would be an improvement.
