Guest guest
Great News megan! On Holly's upcoming surgery. Keep us posted on her progress. Have a great day! Debbie Cole From: <newgram_2002@...> Subject: Holly's surgery Date: Saturday, May 22, 2010, 12:34 AM  My daughter Holly has her surgery scheduled for July 30. We all can't wait. She seems to not hear as well as she used to with the one CI she has. If she plugs her " good " ear, all she hears is muffled sounds. At her last mapping, she was at 28% comprehension. Her appointment last Monday she was supposed to have a mapping but when she told the audi that she wanted to get the other ear done, the audi got so excited she went and talked to the surgeon about it. I guess she forgot about the mapping. We all forgot about it.
Guest guest
Thank you Debbie, I will. We have 2 months-plenty of time to think about it. Hopefully her hearing gets better in her left ear before then. > > From: <newgram_2002@...> > Subject: Holly's surgery > > Date: Saturday, May 22, 2010, 12:34 AM > > > > > > > > Â > > > > > > > > > > My daughter Holly has her surgery scheduled for July 30. Guest guest
All the best to you and Holly, . May it all go smoothly. :} It might help if you remind them you live 2 1/2 hours away, that you'd like to know as soon as possible whether the surgery is early or late on Friday. Start by emailing the doctor first. Sometimes you need to make them aware. I had that happen to me, and they forgot to tell me til the last minute. When I protested that I owed my driver the courtesy of letting them know when to pick me up for the operation, with enough notice, they promptly told me the surgery time. By letting the doctor know first, he is made aware of how his staff is informing the patients. Your time is important too. Also, why wake Holly early if surgery is not til later? Prayers said for you all. We are getting ready for Holly's surgery on Friday. She had her blood work done last Friday, and her physical is tomorrow. Hopefully everything gets faxed to the surgeon in time. We won't know until Thursday if she is the early or late surgery, which stinks since we live 2 1/2 hours away. So we are going up on Thursday and staying in the hotel for two nights. I don't want to drive that far the same day as surgery, plus I want to stay close for that first night in case of complications so we can go to the same hospital. Besides, our hospital would not have a clue what to do if she ended up going to our emergency room. I am hoping that the internet works on my laptop while we are in Springfield so I can keep people updated.
Guest guest
Thanks , I found out today that her surgery is at 11am. We have to be there at 9. Last time we had to be thereat 6am. She will be happy to be able to sleep a little later. I just hope her test results and physical records get there in time. Her blood work was done last friday and her doc hasn't gotten the results yet. It sure doesn't take that long to fax them. > It might help if you remind them you live 2 1/2 hours away, that you'd like to know as soon as possible whether the surgery is early or late on Friday. Guest guest
Thanks for asking. Her surgery went well. She is doing so much better than the last time. took off her bandages today. Now she just has to wear her " cup " for the next 5 nights. She gets her processor on the 18th. > > > Hi , > How did Holly's surgery go? Guest guest
Well, Holly was doing great. Sunday night she started feeling dizzy and nauseous. Yesterday it got so bad, and the vomiting started, that she had her sister take her to the emergency room last night. the doctors here didn't know what to do for her, so they gave her a prescription and told her to call her doctor today. I called when I got home from work and was told to bring her in tomorrow morning. She is feeling so much better today but I'm still taking her just in case. > > I posted a few pictures of Holly. The surgeon took some pictures during surgery and those are on there so don't look if you have a weak stomach! I didn't get very many pictures this time because they are the same as last time just different ear. > > >
Guest guest
, Yes, it was her implant doctor and she is 2 1/2 hours away. But it was worth the drive. She was feeling a lot better today but we still went. The doc said she thinks that the surgery triggered a migraine for Holly. She said that Holly should take motrin because it will take care of all of the symptoms. If she doesn't get any better by early next week to call and she will prescribe a migraine med for her. But she wants Holly to try the motrin first. Since we were there today, we don't have to go back next week, which was her scheduled post-op appt. The incision looks good, no sign of infection, which I was worried about. . > > > > > > I posted a few pictures of Holly.
