Advanced Bionics Backwards Compatibility

Hi Wendi,

Thanks for the information. I knew ONE of the Advanced Bionics is not

yet compatable with the latest Harmony. It was the one I would have been

implanted with had I chosen AB 14 years ago.

Just wanted to know when she was saying that implants are

backwards compatable, that not all are, and certainly not all can run the

modern programs on older implants. I can get ACE, SPEAK and CIS with the

Freedom upgrade, but not HI ACE or HI CIS. It's a moot point, since I

use SPEAK anyway. Just didn't want anyone thinking all external upgrades

are compatable with older internal implants.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Actually, they are compatible -- people using the CII and the Auria can

upgrade to the Harmony. The only processor that is still waiting for the

ability to upgrade to Harmony is the C1, which I think is one of the

oldest

AB processors. It's been a while in development and is currently being

tested in clinical trials (then needs FDA approval) but it's coming. :)

This is so true. I started with Auria and upgraded to Harmony Hi Res 120. All

my equipment for Auria could be used with my Harmony. Worked out great and

Harmony is amazing. The upgrade for the C1 is close to coming out. There are

several new things coming out for all AB users.
