I also have the Razr cellphone and have found that when using my T-coil with the phone, I get a high pitched sound that drowns out the voices that I want to hear. I've never experienced this with any other cell phone. Have you had this happen? I have one theory and that is the fact the phone is a refurbished phone that my son got for me. I'm thinking possibly that when the phone was refurbished that little attention was given to " hearing aid compatibility " . Normally the Razr carries an M3 rating but I don't know positively that the refurbished phone was checked out for that feature. I use my phone with the Freedom processor and am having a difficult time convincing any normal hearing person that the phone doesn't work properly. Does anyone out there have any idea what is going on so that I can explain to the proper people. Guest guest
Gayle, " Normally the Razr carries an M3 rating... " M3 only, no T rating? M is microphone, T is Telecoil. From your description, it sounds like the phone is not t coil compatible. Perhaps it was built early on before they made that model compliant. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* I woke up this morning and couldn't find my socks, so I called information. She said they were behind the couch. She was right. & Dreamer Doll ke7nwn Newport, Oregon N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup rclark0276@... http://webpages.charter.net/dog_guide/

This Razr was given to me for my use as an emergency phone. I never saw the box it originally came in. It was sent to me by my daughterinlaw and she said it was M3 rated on the box. I cannot remember if she included a T rating or not. I contacted her and told her the phone wasn't compatible with my Tcoil but she says.. " It sounds fine to me " . I explained to her that of course it would sound good to her....she has normal hearing and has no way to check the Tcoil compatibility. For sake of keeping the peace I am not going to argue with her. She thinks I can learn to use it and I heard very well at her house when I last visited her. My only recourse for now is to wait until I find another job and buy a phone and cell contract that I will be happy with. The phone I am using now is okay for emergency calls on the road, etc. and I'm grateful for the help because I cannot afford to get my own phone. I do hear very well with most people using only the microphone but no ability to screen out background noise. Gayle
Guest guest
Are you using the AT & T network? if so the phone may not be a CDMA but a tdma version which can cause more interference than the CDMA phones > > > > Has anyone found a bluetooth device that works well with their > Freedom > > processor? Guest guest
Hi Gayle, I almost missed your reply because it was below the quoted text. It would be helpful if you cna post new text on top, thanks. If you can get your hands on headsets, try one. If the headset is t coil compatible, that will solve the problem. One of my cordless phones is supposedly t coil compatible but does not work that way. A headset solves that issue. This might be a viable short term solution for you. *---* *---* *---* *---* *---* I'm not saying there should be capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself? & Dreamer Doll ke7nwn Newport, Oregon N24C 3G 8/2000 Hookup rclark0276@... http://webpages.charter.net/dog_guide/
Guest guest
Are you saying that whom ever is using AT & T network will have interference with their phones? a from L.A. Implanted w/ Freedom 8-
Guest guest
it all depends on the hearing aids and the implant. My older hearing aids jammed very bad on the TDMA network that AT & T uses I have not tried my implant on the AT & T network since I use Sprint and others that are using CDMA technology. TDMA phones generally uses more transmit power than the CDMA phones. Some newer aids are more resistance to interference. You are more likely to get cell phone interference on the T-coil setting. That one of the reasons we have the M and T ratings is to help push manufactures in making cell phone that create less interference. You need to try different cell phones to make sure that they are capable to your needs. Sometimes I get just a bit of interference on the Sprint network using a older phone that was far away from the cell tower. I have not noticed interference from my cell phone for a few years. IF you use a headset or bluetooth neck loop you may not get the interference. By the way I noticed that AT & T will be shutting down their TDMA network as shown here. http://www.phoneride.com/newsdetail.aspx?newsid=597 > > > > Are you saying that whom ever is using AT & T network will have interference with their phones? > > a from L.A. > Implanted w/ Freedom 8-06 >
Guest guest
Thanks Carol and for your input on the T-coil compatible headsets information. I can hardly wait to utilize the headset for the cell phone usage, especially after my Freedom speech processor gets activated 8/14/2007 and my lifelong dream to be able to use a cell phone (especially for business purposes) comes to reality. I tried a Motorola H500 and it wasn't compatible with the telecoil of my Freedom processor. It works pretty slick. I use a LG phone with Verizon service. I learned about this from Linn Tearney at Cochlear - and she was very right when she turned me towards the HS-850 as opposed to the H-500 which was the standard offering at my service provider. Hope this helps. I assume you plug the headset into the cell phone, set the CI to the T setting and wear the headset over the speech processor hooked over your ear, correct?
