Guest guest
I'm having a problem and would love some input from you all if you have any ideas... I don't know if it's my metabolism or what, but when I take pills (anything from tylenol to pain meds) it's like I don't get the complete dose. I feel like I never even took it. I find myself taking more than I'm supposed too to try to get some effect from it...which I KNOW I shoudn't do, but I don't know what else to do and it is very frustrating. Seems like my body is not processing things correctly if that makes any sense.... Please help if you can. Thanks, Colleen
Guest guest
Colleen, This sounds like there is a problem with the liver...even tho liver blood tests may come out okay. If you are not absorbing things like you should, it may mean either a sluggish liver or maybe a problem with the colon. Either way, I would suggest taking a look at doing a series of liver flushes and some colon cleanses. I found the liver flushes to be totally awesome for producing results, but it is important not to just stop at one, but do a series until there are no more stones coming out. Just my two cents! Guest guest
Be cautious I have heard of people getting into this cycle with over the counter pain meds and there is some thing called rebound or something and it comes from taking too many, and they start to lose the effectiveness. I would stop taking them for awhile. What kind of pain is it that your taking them for? Is it headaches or is it some other kind of pain? Tylenol is really only good for headaches in my own opinion. If your suffereing from body aches there are other meds that may be better suited for you and less toxic on your liver than tylenol. Let me know. Guest guest
--- Hi Colleen, I have the same problem, I think it has something to do w/the gut as was suggested and also, some reseearch has proven that certain meds such as antidepressants can affect and alter other meds. I read a study about prozac doing this to the body. I am on prozac, and unfortunately need to be. I do believe this med alters the other meds. I have too High of a tolerance for any med.. its weird, but just wanted to let you know. I take digestive enzymes to help heal my gut along w/probiotics. Just a note that you are not the only one!!! Guest guest
That is interesting about antidepressants. I have been on Celexa for a few years...I'll do some research on the subject and see what I can come up with. Thanks for the info! Guest guest
Thanks for the advice, Patty. I have had my liver tested a few times in the past six months and it was always " normal " . Guest guest
Thanks for responding, . The pain I was speaking of is from fibromyalgia. I have been on several different meds, but none seem to have any effect on me. In fact, after my explant surgery, the pain meds I took had very little effect on me at all, which is strange for me, because before, one pill would knock me out. I know my body has been through a lot, but this is just frustrating to me because I can't seem to get any relief and I'm worried about not absorbing any of my supplements, especially my vitamins (I need my supplements as I am a vegan). Here are some of the meds I have taken in the past several months that had no effect on me: Mepergan (after surgery), Diclofenac, Zanaflex, Tramadol, epam (for anxiety)...there have been others that I can't remember because I didn't take them very long. I'm going to try the liver flush that Patty suggested and see if it helps. My liver tests have been normal, but I know I could still benefit from a flush. Guest guest
-- colleen I have fms also, and pain meds have never helped me. I guess some people get relief, but many people with fms don't respond to pain meds very well----I think in my case it is because my body has infinite muscle spasms everyday--most of which I am unaware of---but many of which I can feel in my arms, legs, stomach, neck, eyelid, you name it, i have had spasms there. Muscle spasm pain doesn't respond well to most meds. In fact, I did best on ativan. It is more of muscle relaxer. I really liked it, but then got addicted to it and it caused more problems than it solved. GEtting off of it was terrible withdrawal and i wasn't taking much at all. But I was so glad I did. It was causing some of the symptoms I was experiencing. Like anything else, the benzophiadine family which incudes xanax, ativan, and many more meds i have seen discussed here, can have as many negative side effects as positive. Some people do great on them, but they are all addictive and if you go to some of the websites on these drugs you won't believe the 100 or more symptoms they can cause. Many are the same symptoms that breast implanted women have. I think they are mainly for short term use. I like Patty's idea of the liver flush. Because it will detox and therefore help you. also, I think that a someone who knows good massage therapy for people with fms can help tremendously with pain. I have found also that for some reason taking a tsp of powdered vitamin C helps me. I read about it to help stop a herx on another website. I have tried it and it helps me!! Guest guest
You guys are doing such an awesome job of supporting and encouraging each other! I have wanted to respond to many posts, but I've been under alot of stress lately with a counterfeiting problem on one of our business accounts. It has been a mess, and isn't over yet....(it couldn't have come at a worse time with the holidays upon us and trying to be ready for Christmas).....that is why it has been hard for me to really respond as I have wanted. I just want you all to know that I am reading your posts, and trying to keep up with all of your concerns. I understand how difficult these health problems can be, and I am hoping that you can find encouragement in the fact that so many of us have overcome these huge obstacles. It will happen, it just takes time.....I am praying for you Iggy, Mimi, Pam, and the rest of you who have posted....try to enjoy the beauty of the Christmas season...it is the season of hope! My prayers are going up for you... Hugs, Patty ----- Original Message ----- From: mikat828@... Guest guest
Tramadol looks like the only one for pain that you were on, zanaflex is really just another muscle relaxer as is the diazepam. I would highly recomend, if you are seeking pain relief, something stronger with out the horrible side effects like oxycontin or oxycodone. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
