Turtle mocha? That's funny. LOL.

As for playing the " Say What " game, that's an idea. It's incredibly easy to

annoy people by asking them to repeat themselves time and time again. LOL.

I only have one question for you: What if it turns out that has the

patience of a saint? Me thinks you will need to come up with another

alternative. <grin>

, who is hoping did not hear what she just told . LOL.

- I'm so happy that you've found a doc who is a real doc - one who

LISTENS and administers health care according to his training AND by what his

patients tell him. They are few and far between.

Yup...that might do the trick.

Actually, due to the LVAS, now that we know that caused my hearing loss, the

backpressure of fluid in my right ear (where the LVAS is much more pronounced

than in my left) killed/damaged the hair cells in my right ear.  Thus, hearing

aids did not help - it just made distorted sounds that much louder.  So the only

solution to by pass the hair cells was this wonderful invention that came into

being when I was in my early 20's.  :)  So I had to ( - see this...) very

patiently wait until the criteria lessened enough so that I could obtain this

miracle for my very own self.

Now I must get back to doing my chores.  :)  [but this is way more fun]

,

My hearing loss affected me in the same way. Eventually hearing aids only made

sounds more distorted and unrecognizable. I went so far as to try digital aids

in 1995, but they made speech even more difficult for me to understand, so I

went back to using analogs.

My hearing loss was caused by low birth weight (I weighed 2 pounds), ototoxic

drugs given to me while in the neonatal ICU, infant and childhood ear

infections, antibiotics given to me for ear infections and years of untreated

allergies.

I was unaware of all this until I was evaluated for my first CI. My CI surgeon

helped answer alot of questions as to what caused my hearing loss.

The only thing I remember clearly in regards to my hearing loss was seeing ENTs

and audis my entire life. I also remember ENTs asking me why I didn't having

hearing aids, but I was too young at the time to explain why.

Hi ,

Even though my new CI is less than two months old going bilateral has already

made a huge difference in my attitude and how well I hear.

Jackie,

I couldn't agree more. I don't mean to bring my bipolar into this, but I can

draw a parallel to what you stated in your previous post. My psychiatrist says I

have a " severe " and " difficult to treat " case of bipolar due to my rapid

cycling, voices, delusions and paranoia. Research indicates that people who

rapid cycle are treatment refractive, but fortunately, my psychiatrist doesn't

subscribe to this idea. He believes in trying to get me as stable as possible

according to my own symptoms as opposed to what the field of psychiatry expects

overall. I'm glad he has this perspective because I no longer feel like yet

another psychiatrist is giving up on me just because I'm not your " typical "

client with bipolar.

Jackie,

You can say that again. My last psychiatrist was one of the worst I've ever had.

Every time I came into his office and said I was rapid cycling or manic he told

me to schedule an appointment with him in 3 months. There was also a time when I

called for an emergency appointment because I was experiencing a dangerous side

effect from a med. He never returned my call and when I got a hold of his

receptionist, the earliest I could see him was 3 months later. I reported him to

my state's medical board as well as my insurers. All I can say is thank goodness

I'm now working with a wonderful psychiatrist who listens and takes my treatment

seriously. I'd love for my previous psychiatrist to spend a week in his client's

shoes when they aren't given the proper meds to see how he likes it. Failing to

treat or listen to your clients/patients is wrong and something I think warrants

the revocation of one's medical license. The only good thing I can say about my

experience is that I will never allow a doctor, psychiatrist or anyone else to

treat me that way again.

, I can be patient too, and while thinks she is, well, she

never did her chores today, while I did and have my treadmill back. LOL

And yuh know, having a CI is perfect for the treadmill. I can listen to my

music without hearing a peep out of the treadmill. Better still, I wont

hear myself gasping and begging for mercy! LOL

And what do you know, Jackie is offering to drive this time, and we can

afford to give her a double chocolate chip frappachino with whipped cream.

What a meeting, with everytone having a CI. Say what? Can you hear me

now? LOL

That will be another $50 charge for Coke spilled on my keyboard. LOL.

I think it would be great if Jackie could take the wheel, but if truth be told,

I'd lactually like to drive because I can get us wherever we're going in 5

minutes. LOL.

Ooooops. , will you take payments over 10 years? LOL

Ok you drive since time is so short. Jackie has been to the Pacific

Nortwest so she can navigate.

It really would be a blast to meet you all. I went to a convention in

Seattle back in 2001 or 2002. Cant remember if it was HLA or, shoot,

whatever the other one was. LOL Conventions are fun but tiring too.

A $50 payment spread over 10 years? Are you strapped for cash? LOL.

It would be great if we could organize a get together with everyone on .

As far as conventions are concerned, I've been to an American Association of the

Deafblind convention and it was an exciting and rewarding opportunity. I'll

never forger any of the wonderful people I met. It's hard to believe that I

still communicate with several of them even after 13 years.

No , actually I would like to put that money towards a new ham

radio. I wish to chat with people all over the planet. Would you waive

that payment please, dear ? LOL

I never did an AADB convention tho could have gone to one a few years

back. Would be so fun to check out the latest technology all in one place.
