Guest guest
Does it upset your stomache to take it without food??? My dr told me that an upset stomache was the most common side effect and to help prevent that I should take it with food. > I have been on lex for over 3 months now. Guest guest
Hi Jessie! How's it going so far? My doc told me it didn't matter when I took it, but I take it in the morning on an empty stomach. So far, I haven't noticed any side-effects other than feeling a bit sleepy the first couple of days. Today, I haven't noticed it at all, and my fibromyalgia symptoms actually seem to have subsided a little. How are you feeling, Jessie? Guest guest
Well, this is my second day. I think the medicine is making me sleepy. I can't tell if that's from the medicine or just my normal sleepiness??? I took it first thing in the morning today and then went right back upstairs and went back to sleep. Yesterday I took it in the afternoon and then ended up taking a 2-hour nap. So tomorrow I'm going to try taking it in the evening. If I'm still sleepy during the day then I'll know it's not from the medicine. Hopefully the sleepy feeling will go away once I start getting some sleep at night. > >> I have been on lex for over 3 months now. Guest guest
, I agree!! I have tried taking at night with food etc. But what works best for me is a cup of coffee and a Lex first thing in the monring. I remember when taking Celexa and before that Wellbutrin and before that Zoloft I had to take these meds with food regardless of when I took them or I would be sick for the rest of the day. Since switching to lex and experimenting on when to take it; nights it keeps me awake(bad sleeper always have been 5 hours max).Mornings, like before 8am I started taking it on an empty stomach with only a cup of coffee and the benefits of the Lex would last all day. As you mentioned no highs or lows for me. By the time the med stop working( which was usually at about 8pm for me. I could feel myself coming down from the high)it was only a few hours before my bedtime, which I could tolorate. Then before bed I would take my other meds, trazadone 100mg, Klonopin or Seroquel(think I spelled it rightTaking one or the other depends on my level of anxiety that day.),and my meds for my kidneys(Avapro)before bedtime. If I deviate off the beaten path with the Lex schedule, there have been times when I have skipped til the next day to take again. I suffer from PTSD,Depression,Social Anxiety. This is my regimine..... Jacquie Lex works better on an empty stomach! I have been on lex for over 3 months now. I have taken the medication with and without food and found out it works better when you pop the pill early in the morning just from waking up. The medication gets into my system faster and last longer-so I don't experience the high point which is during the day and the low point at night. If anyone out there believes the medication is not working or wants to up the dose I recommend first try taking the medication on an empty stomach. If anyone has and comments please post! ! Guest guest
Jacquie, I totally agree. I have tried many antidepressants, and so far lex works the best. I only hope that the company will come out with an extended release tablet. I think they will try to market the new drug and years down the road they might start with the extended release tabs. Paxil and other drugs (prozac) who have had there run for several years are coming out with their extended release tabs. Lets just hope lex (forest labratories) will come out with one too. Also on another note Jacquie, Xanax is coming out with an extend release form called Xanax XR. its available in other countries and it will begin to be marketede here in the US soon. So for us anxiety sufferers there is new hope!
Guest guest
, That would be nice to have a Lexapro xr. I have never tried Xanax. So far Klonopin has helped with mild anxiety. Once taken, it will last up to 12 hrs, and is fast acting. Seroquel is good for me to stop a panic attack when I feel one coming on, which is usually when I am in a social situation with alot of people. Why is the U.S. always the last to get these " wonder drugs " before the U.S. I wish there was an all inclusive drug, but alas, that is only in my dreams... Guest guest
WHAT. it only stays in your system for the day? And so what happens when it wears off? Then what? What do you feel Jacquie, ??? Sandi Lex works better on an empty stomach! I have been on lex for over 3 months now. I have taken the medication with and without food and found out it works better when you pop the pill early in the morning just from waking up. The medication gets into my system faster and last longer-so I don't experience the high point which is during the day and the low point at night. Guest guest
Well Sandi, It's different for everyone. I myself don't feel any ill effects. However, tto take off the edge I do have the Klonopin that is pretty fast acting. Jacquie Lex works better on an empty stomach! > > > I have been on lex for over 3 months now.
