HI Pam,

You are right to be cautious about going to the same doctor for explant as the one who implanted. They generally don't take our concerns very seriously.

I just looked at our list, and there is absolutely nobody listed for land, Washington DC, or Virginia. Would you consider South Carolina? A friend that I knew whose story was featured in a "First for Women" magazine article several years back used Dr. Shirley Madison in Aiken. Not sure how far that is for you. I wish I was still in contact with Darcy, but she has not responded to emails for some time now. I was worried about her, as she had a scleroderma diagnosis, but seemed to be healing well. In any case, if you want the info, here it is:

Dr. Shirley Madison P/S

244 Greenville, NW

Aiken, SC 29801 (803)641-3879

Contact Darcy: Jluadzers@... who was explanted by her

I wish I knew for sure if this doctor is one you could count on...but only Darcy could say for sure.

The only other thing I could recommend you do is to really spend some time interviewing as many doctors as you can in your area, and questioning them carefully on their explant experience. Sometimes that is the only thing you can do. Daryl and I had to do that here in Vegas, and eventually found a doctor that no one had used before, but who understood and conceded to Daryl's wishes for a total capsulectomy with drains. We went to a number of doctors before we found this one, and she has been happy with him. We added him to our list as a result. You will want to educate yourself fully about what a good explant entails, but if you are armed with the info you need, a good doctor will not be threatened by you and will understand your desire to be healthy again without implants in the way. Maybe your search will find us a good doctor in that area....I sure do wish you had some support though.

I'm glad you are taking this carefully and thoughfully. You are in a tough spot, and I am so sorry. You know what, though? I think almost all of us had a very hard time with this, financially, emotionally, mentally, physically, logistically.....it is just not an easy thing to do. For any of us. We'll help as best we can. You are not a bother! Don't think like that!

Let us know what happens.

Hugs,

Patty

Subject: Anyone know a ps in Virginia for explant?

Just a few minutes ago, I posted a message about my pre-op appt I had today. I'm not so sure I'm going to use the doctor I went to. I know he's fully qualified to do it, but he agreed to it grudgingly. I'm so afraid that if he does it and doesn't do absolutely everything the way it should be done, I'll still be sick and then he can say - I told you so! Then my husband will tell me the same thing. He doesn't want me having the surgery as it is. Not to mention the fact that I haven't worked for 5 months and we have no money and the surgery will most likely not be covered by insurance. This is the ps that put them in, so he gave me a break on the charge so that it would cost only $2,000. But, cheap isn't the answer. I really want the best doctor to do it. I don't think I can go to Ohio to Dr. Feng. That would just be so much extra expense. Does anyone know of a good doctor in either Virginia, land, or Washington DC? I am basically in the middle of the state of Virginia. Sorry for being such a bother. Thank you all again so much!!Pam

Patty, South Carolina is probably about as far from here as Ohio.

Ohio might even be closer depending on where Aiken SC is. I would

much rather go to Dr. Feng if I have to travel since everyone speaks

so highly of her. I really liked talking with her coordinator. She

took so much time with me explaining everything that I could possibly

imagine. I probably won't find anyone like her around here. I guess

I'll try for a week and if I don't find anyone, I'll have to call Dr.

Feng. Thanks again!

Pam I agree with Patty. Ohio is allot closer to you than it was to

me, I bet you can get a really good deal on flights from where you

are at. Feng would do a kick ass job on making your boobies look good

again, and she def will get all that crap out of you so that you can

heal! I know it seems like a total hardship, but think about it, this

is your life, your health, and if you get the very best Dr to do

this, you will be guaranteed not to have to ever deal with surgery on

your breasts again! THat is the best feeling in the world!

anyhow wether or not you do make it to Ohio you at least know that

you need to get the implants out with the capsule, it is the most

important thing of all!

very carefully until you feel you can trust them to do it right. Get

& Patty, I've gone on-line trying to see how much it will cost

me to get to Ohio! It'll be less than $1,000 for airfare, hotel, and

food for both my mom and I for 7 days. I guess I'll rack up my

credit card and pay on it for the rest of my life! I think it'll be

worth the extra expense to travel to a surgeon that everyone raves

about. If I went somewhere else and didn't get better, I'd always

wonder if it could have been because they didn't do it right. This

way, I'll have the best chance possible. I just wish I had gone

ahead and made the appt. with dr. feng for January 17th when they

offered it to me. They must be booking into Mid Feb by the date that

iggy got. I think I'll call them today???... I am so scared!!!

Pam ,It was good talking to last night, we have so much in common with symptoms, Don’t we all though? Just please remember, do it right, so you wont be sorry. I wouldn’t trust him (your old ps) in my opinion, even if he "agrees " to do it now , who knows if he has the expertise to do it. I am sure he doesn't. He puts more in, than he has ever taken out properly , like the rest of them. Then you will forever have to deal with possible messed up breasts, and wondering did he really get it all out? If it isnt his passion to get you better, and they made you sick, he wont spend the extra hour to scrape out some more junk that he might find, when pressed for time for another implant.

We were building a house, just got married, had a new baby, and then had to travel all the way across country to go to Georiga, because I was going to do it right. Where the money came from, who knows? We are still paying for what ins didn’t (lift, travel expenses, annual deductable) but I wouldn’t change a thing! it over, and I'm better for it.

Keep with your plans with Dr Feng- you will be happy, be rest assured, have peace of mind that all that junk is out of you, cute breasts, as she is at the top with some of the other docs here, and knows what she is doing. Her skills are up there.

Be a warrior, travel girl, and you will get better! love
