<<My daughter, Caitlin, is almost 8 years old, gained 30 pounds in 5

months.

Since age 4 her weight has been rapidly climbing. She weighs 149 pounds

and

is 50 1/2 inches tall.>>

Hi Debbie,

Ted is an inch and a half taller but he weighs the same and is 9 yrs.

old.

Ted isn't as active as he should be but he does not eat an excessive

amount of food either. He has hypothyroidism and takes medicine for

that. I always read about children with Down syndrome that are under-

weight. I have called in the county health care worker to help me with

this as I am very concerned.

Hi,

I am new to the board and new to Lexapro. I've been on it for a week

and do feel better. I am on 10mg once a day. I take it in the

morning that seems to work for me.

I've read some horror stories about weight gain on this drug. Can

people share with me their experience with that? One reason I am

depressed is because of weight gain!

The other thing, is if I decide now to stop taking this drug, and I've

also heard the withdrawal horror stories, should 1 week on 10 mg

really cause withdrawal?

Thanks!

Elaine

Hi Elaine,

Lexapro worked big time for me, too.

I take 10 mg and didn't gain any weight, actually lost

in the beginning.

If you can exercise, even walk, that will help.

Take care,

so true njg about the walking. walking also helps with

the depression as it (i guess) stirs up the endorphins

in your brain and things look and seem better. I know

when I was doing more walking, I felt a lot happier.
