You have to nag doctors to get enough stress or pain medication

As a patient I've learned one thing about medications for relieving stress or

pain:

you have to nag the doctor endlessly to get them. If you just leave it to a

doctor or nurse to decide how much pain medication you get, they won't give you

enough. They're convinced that pain or psychiatric medications are addictive.

I once went to a hospital for open-heart surgery. The next day, when I asked

for pain medication, the RN said to me, and I'm not making this up: " You

didn't come here just to get high. "

I'd have reported her ass. I was taught in nursing school never to judge another

persons pain. Especially a patients. Objective observation usually tells you if

a person is in pain...common sense, like you just had open heart surgery which

is a no brainer, takes care of most of the rest.
