Guest guest
My Hubby had his leg amputated in April.. He has been very depressed ever since.. He is on a number of medications but he just can not get out of this depression ...on top of this about a month ago he came down with a very bad case of the shingles and now he is so depressed there are days and days he don't even come downstairs he just stays in bed .. He is on Neurontin 900milg... 3X's a day plus once a day 5milg. of the lexapro.. He is also on vicodins for the pain and valtrex for the shingles and he takes ambian for sleep and xanax ... I am at my wits end caring for him so I can not even begin to imagine what he is going through... He was the type who worked very hard and put in long hours of overtime before the loss of his leg.. Now he feels his life is over ... He is only 57 years old and in the prime of his life... I am so very heart broken for him.. Is there any answers for this ?? Thank you for letting me vent here.... Guest guest
Welcome to the group Rie !!! I am very sorry to hear about what happened to your hubbie (((hugs))). Is he in physical therapy or do you have a visiting nurse still coming?? Sometimes family members are just too close to help and getting outside help to come in and help deal with your situation might do the trick. I am glad you came here Rie and please keep posting and let us know how things are coming. Dana Rose > My Hubby had his leg amputated in April.. He has been very depressed > ever since.. Guest guest
Rie...My mom had shingles and the Dr. gave her a cream that contain " capsacin " ...it's called Zostrix I think ..it helps with the burning type pain of shingles once the blisters had healed .She said it did wonders for her . Im very sorry you and your husband are having such a hard time .Can he be fitted for an artificial leg ? McCartneys new wife apparently functions perfectly with hers ,they are made so much better now than before. You and your husband will be in my prayers .
