Ginko Biloba for sexual sides

I recently discovered that Ginko can be effective in reversing

sexual side effects caused by SSRI's. I started taking it a few

weeks ago and it's working well for me. It does take a couple of

weeks to take affect, but it's better than other remedies I've tried

such as Wellbutrin. Wellbutrin makes me to edgy anyway. Here's a

link with some more info...

This might not be such a good idea...you might want to check with your doc

first. :-(

GINKO BILOBA (GINKGO BILOBA) and LEXAPRO (ESCITALOPRAM OXALATE)

Severity: Moderate

Description: Treatment with both SELECTIVE SEROTONIN REUPTAKE INHIBITORS and

GINKGO may result in an increased risk of a serious syndrome that may cause high

blood pressure, elevated body temperature, sudden muscle spasms, facial

flushing, seizures, confusion, or changes in mental awareness.

Ginkgo may interact with a group of medications called selective serotonin

reuptake inhibitors (or SSRI's). SSRI's include but are not limited to Paxil®,

Prozac®, Zoloft®, and Effexor®. If you are not sure if your medication is

an SSRI, contact your pharmacist or physician. Treatment with both SSRI's and

ginkgo is not recommended. Always check with your doctor before taking ginkgo

with an SSRI. If you are currently taking an SSRI and ginkgo and are

experiencing muscle tremor, sudden muscle spasms, facial flushing, seizures,

confusion, or changes in mental awareness, contact your physician.

Thanks for the info Barbara. I was just offering up my experience.

I have not experienced any side effects from the Ginko. If you look

at any of the scientific studies, there is no evidence of side

effects from taking Ginko with SSRI's. I trust the studies plus my

own experience more than the drugstore.com database. They don't

offer any reference to back up their info. By all means check with

your doctor.

Ummm...where did the info come from if there were no studies to support it? My

doc *did* tell me not to take any herbals and especially not the ginko or the St

s Wort while taking Celexa and as Lex is the active isomer from Celexa....

If you're not having any problems more power to you.
