I really RALLY appreciate all your input. it helps me a lot to know

what all of you are going through. It helps to know I am not alone. I

tried the lexepro yesterday .. It was a crumb or a quarter of a

tablet. I threw up. I think it was more my anxiety than anything

else. i wasn't sure what I would do today ..take it or not. I took

it.. It is very hard on my stomach it seems ( Due to IBS I guess) I

did nto throw up this time though. Hmmm I have only taken 2 little

chunks of the stuff and it seems to have effects on me ... is that

possible? one it gives me stabbign stomach pain and nausea. #2 I am

not hungry one bit.. things taste funny. #3 my throat hurts #4 I seem

to be runnign around like some kind of maniac doign things.. I mean

liek manic style. Is this possible after 2 little crumbs? Aside from

this no emotional improvement but I know it is too soon. I am really

really afraid of weight gain here .. I went so far as to buy a scale

and I am not joking..gain weight and bye bye lexepro goes ( I know

this all part of my anxiety ) Hey I guess If I cannot eat I cannot

get fat right? I am still very terrified of side effects I am waiting

for more to hit.. and what happens when I up the dose tat is really

worrysome. Anyway I appreciate all of what everyone on this board has

A crumb of a 10 mg of Lex can be too much. Have you thought of

starting out with the liquid version and inching up? I have had to

go up and down alot with my dosaging.

Dear Dana Rose,

thank you for the idea . liquid was not offered as an option.

Naseau seems a little better just all food is bad. Plus let me tell

ya I am trippen . I am repainting my whole apartment and ripping

carpet out and I am afraid to stop. I know I will burst into tears.

Coould this be the lexepro? I swear now I will probably blame

everything on that stuff.

How long can I expect it to be before the real side effects kick in?

One thing you can do that seems to help *everyone* over the worst of the

initial sides is to drink alot of water. And I mean *alot*. I was drinking

upwards of a gallon a day or more. It worked. It helped to relieve the worst

of the sides....

I felt kind of manic during my first few days-to a few wks.

Placebo effect? I don't think so in my case. I dipped down for a

few days, now it's evening out.\

Patty ~ ~ I get manicky sometimes and I am not Bi-Polar. When I go

up too high on the Lexapro (15 mg for me) I will get that way. Also,

when I take some vitamins they can boost the Lexapro effect, same

with some other drugs too.

Alison ~ ~ ask your doctor to try you on liquid Lexapro and start at

the smallest dosage he/she feels is necessary and start inching up,

very gradually. You usually measure the Lexapro with a non-needle

syringe.

As far as the side-effects, just take it easy until you are used to

the medication, especially when operating any machinery.

Barbara ~ ~ excellent advice !!!! I find I get dehydrated very

easily and I don't know if it is the Lexapro, or me *smiles* When I

don't eat balanced meals and drink sufficient water, my medication

sides really pound me. Thanks for the reminder Barbara.
