Hi Joyce, welcome to the group *smiles*. I too kept inching up my

dosage over 10 milligrams and I believe that is what caused the

breakthrough anxiety and panic for me anywaz. For me, SSRI's

overstimulate me and cause panic, anxiety and the jitters and so in

the past I could not start off on an adult level, only a peds level.

When I came back down to 5 mg. it seemed to go away. However, I am

augmenting another antidepressant that has worked for me in the past

to control anxiety and panic - Pamelor. I am starting at 1/2 ml

every other day and that is helping immensely. Today I went out to

the store and did not experience any panic and anxiety. So, far the

past 4 days my mood journal has reflected a midline (5) which means

that I think I am becoming stable, keeping my fingers crossed !!!

(10) is the worst and (1) is the best :) I hope this helps Joyce.

Hello

first as you know, we all react differently to these meds. The

following is my own experience with Lex.

I Began Lex at 10 mg and all was ok(even though the Lex did not work

as well for me, the sides were MUCH easier to tolerate). I also had

some breakthriugh anxiety and my Pdoc decide to up my dose to

20mg....more happened and he upped me again to 30. Soon I began

having anxiety attacks every night after sleeping only 2-3 hrs. My

vision became double and my BP rose dramatically. I did not just ak

my Pdoc, I told him I was going to reduce my dose. He did not agree

but wished me good luck.

Anyway I reduced from 30mg to 20 and finally to 10 over a 3 week

period (no negative sides from the reduction unlike getting off

effexor!)Over the 3 weeks, My sleep returned to normal as did my BP

and my anxiety actually lessened. mY VISION RETURNED TO NORMAL AS

WELL. I said that the #%$# and continued reducing to 5 mg where I am

at currently. I am going to try getting off completely within the

next week or 2. I AM 56 AND WANT TO AT LEAST TRY TO BE MED FREE...I

CAN ALWAYS GO BACK IF IT DOES NOT WORK OUT!

Bottom line for me was that too much lex caused me alot of trouble

and did not really help the original problem! Again that was only my

experience and would not hold true for all! My research showed that

normally 10mg was the usual dose for depression and 20mg for

anxiety...again milage varies. I did not find much info about going

above 20mg!!!

Best of luck, but also watch out for sides! I have also learned the

hard way that a certain amount of Anxiety is quite normal for

people. However if it constantly interferes with life, meds should

be considered! MAGIC BULLETS JUST DO NOT SEEM TO EXIST!

REGARDS

JEFF
